Hamish Hartlett

Someone on Bomberblitz mentioned that we were into him.

Said it was a part of the Dixon trade. I posted it in the Delistings/Trade thread but didnt really think much of it.

However, Moneider96 mentioned that Todd Viney had said on a radio segment that Port should look to trade Hartlett.

It could well mean Howe to GCS, Dixon to Port and Hartlett to Melbourne. Just have to convince Howe and Hartlett.

Offer pick 6 for Prestia and see if they bite and chase him when he's a FA next year smart thinking

That's what I'd wanna save pick 6 for. Dion Prestia. So if we could land Hartlett essentially for Howe that would be a huge win.

How old are you?

Apart from a few rumours in the media we don't even really know that he is available.

But feel free to go sick bro.

Old enough to know that Caro has the best sources in the business. If she says the Dees are right into him, then we are. Shes about the only footy journo worth listening to.

I like the idea of a three-way swap involving GC and Howe. That could be workable.

If Port wanted our pick 6 I'd want their pick 10 back. He was a high draft pick, but he's never quite managed to get his game to the level you'd want from a fourth pick (sound familiar?).

IS he a better player than Vince? No. Why would we pay more for him then?

He has played 22 games each of last 3 seasons so injuries are hopefully behind him.

He would be great in our midfield or maybe off half back. Strong, skilful, good decision maker and finals experienced.

Easily worth a first round pick.

Good to hear we are into some good players! But people have to realise we have to give up something good to get something good. No way a second round pick will do it for Hamish.

Don't have a lot of time for Caro - but rarely gets it wrong as her info comes straight from AFL house usually.

I think for Port to land Dixon (having just re-signed Schultz) they are going to have to lose someone good and their midfield runs deep. Hartlett would be the logical one to sacrifice given poor hamstring history and not meant to be the best of blokes. Still think he'd be a good get for Dees as long as trade is fair.

Get the feeling the Dees don't "love" anyone with their first pick - unlike last year when we locked in on Brayshaw and others early. Don't think Parish and other top mids are Roos type.

His ceiling is higher and he's 3 years younger than Vince when we drafted him.

Just hit his prime.

No time to be conservative.

I seriously doubt that you've seen Hartlett play.

Hartlett's career to date at Port has far exceeded Vince's tenure at Adelaide.

If we can land him in trade week, the acquisition of Melksham would be more palatable.

I am interested to know more about the "not meant to be the best of blokes" comment. Not doubting at all, just wondering what you have heard?

Yep.

As for the injury history that others have raised, he's played 66 of a possible 71 games in the last three seasons including 22 of 22 this year. Not a factor.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
