Looked at the Dogs' team, seems like they only have about 8 listed players, no Stringer. Fair to say it looks like an easy win by selections

Don't say that!

JKH mystery injury of the week.

We know about Pedersen.

Max King in the D League.

They might have pulled the pin on JKH given the injury history this year.

Good to see the MFC not pulling the piss this year and allowing the players who got Casey to this point the chance to finish the job.

JKH came off in the last quarter at Box Hill after failing dismally in a chase on a B/Hill player. He came off straight away, lay down and had his hammies administered to. Nothing mysterious, just another Hammie tweak. He had been a very good player before that, apart from one kicking across the ground brain fade...

God damn that's a good team

Dunn, Garland, Hutchy and Keilty down back..... Very hard to penetrate

Weideman, Terlich, Smith, Hulett up forward.... Plenty of targets to kick too

Spencer, Oliver, Salem, ANB, Trengrove, Kennedy, Grimes.... Probably the best midfield in the competition at the moment

This is gonna be one helluva game

Great to see everyone playing, looks like Casey come good at the right time of year. What a pity we don't get to see  them. Go Scorp's!!!!!!

Newton named in both the Dev team and Firsts??

Looking forward to the game - should get a few D'landers along.  Need to work out the secret handshake thingy.

I enjoy watching some of the peripheral players - Keilty, Joel Smith, Hulett - as much as those that get a run in the MFC team.

Just the sought of thing to make our players take this game in a comfortable mindset, & lose.   And at Casey as well  So the doggies will come switched on for sure.

The Doggies have great fighting spirit at their club now.

Our team is full of talented players for this level, & youngsters who know no better, but in the same breath, its full of players who like things on their terms, & perennial losers a lot of them.

Dunn, Grimes, Garland, Spencer, Kennedy, Terlich,  all have lost far more games, than they have been involved in winning them.

This is a danger game for us.

They haven't done a lot of losing this year, I doubt they're interested in starting now.

I don't think the woes of dropping games we've seen in the Melbourne team applies to Casey. This is a solid team full of players who excel at this level, who will be choc full of confidence, have momentum, and will be hungry. It's only a danger game in the sense that every final is a danger game.

I wonder if there will be any resentment if all the spots are given to MFC players and some Scorp regulars miss out.

Isn't that always!! Ah such a sweeeet alignment eh??

The Casey finals is only delaying the culling process. Who cares about reserves finals.

Lots of us!

And, all the players who are unlikely or are 50/50 to be re-contracted by MFC, would be keen to impress our coaches and other club recruiters to get a chance at a contract elsewhere.

    IN FRONT by Meggs

In this must-win clash between Melbourne 11th on the ladder and St Kilda 8th, it was the Demons who were in front all day to win in a hard-fought Round 8 clash to make it three in a row to keep theit slim finals chances alive. A good crowd of enthusiastic footy families for week 2 of Pride Round had gathered.  The full pews in the well-appointed RSEA Park grandstand provided excellent viewing.   The Saints won the toss and elected to kick to the southern end favoured by a strong 2-3 g

    THE TRADING CHRONICLES 02

Part 2: Watching grass grow by Whispering Jack Critics of test cricket (and I’m not one of them) will often claim the sport is excruciatingly boring: that following a five day match is much like watching grass grow. However, the longest form of that game has nothing on the first week of the AFL trade period when it comes to inducing sleep among those in the football public who follows this process in its somnolent moments. The week gone by has been no exception. Only two player trades

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Meggs

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised
