Just reading some. articles on this, this morning. Scott saying the call was made to axe the 4 to give younger players more opportunities.

I don't get that especially after seeing the failure of the MFC plan to "get games" into players. If the younger players are good enough they naturally force the changing of the guard don't they? AliirAliir  is an example of that.

Different culture at Sydney re Aliir. Can't imagine Sydney handling succession planning this poorly.

Well if you feel this list has reached a state where it has the luxury of sacrificing a spot on a 39 year old rather than trying find a 200 gamer than I think you're deluded.

I don't think it's an either/or proposition though. We will take at least 3 draft picks as well as trade in a couple of mature guys. Harvey would be best 22, I think it's a no-brainer really (assuming of course he would want to play on and come to us).

No issues with the decision not to offer new contracts, and it probably should have happened 12 months earlier for Petrie and Dal Santo. Harvey could perhaps go another 12 months, but I can see why they wouldn't want him to just limp to the line after such a great career.

The timing of the announcement is poor, and for Harvey in particular it should have been orchestrated that he was calling the shots, even if he doesn't agree with the decision. He has earned that at least.

I can't see who the young stars on North's list who are missing out on games. Werribee have been poor this year, and North have hardly had any high draft picks in recent years. You'd think North might fall further next year.

Salem has "come on"

His illness resurfaced ffs...

No he hasn't. If he had 'come on' he would be a regular in our best 22 all season. Of course illness and injury have contributed to why he hasn't, but until he cements a spot he hasn't 'come on'.

He hasn't been dropped once this year as far as I can recall. He has come on, and is absolutely, clearly best 22 when fit.

There will be some decent fat left in their salary cap. Interesting to see what they do with it.

Maybe, though I doubt that Firrito & Petrie are on all that much, and perhaps Del Santo too.

I'm a bit surprised that, if their aim was to open up four spots on their list for younger recruits, they've dumped Boomer but held on to Waite. By all means clear out their geriatric ward, but they've dumped their best performer - the one who could actually contribute something worthwhile in a much younger team next year - and missed the guy who can't get out of the wheelchair.

I don't buy this. The decision is the right one but it looks poorly handled. They probably misread their ability to get to a flag but in fairness they now realise the longer term is best served by making the hard decision. 2 steps back 3 steps forward. It s never black and white as it were.......

Norf are in a better position than anyone (especially Hungry Harvey) as to when to call it quits.

There appears to be a lot of sympathy for Boomer and anger for Norf with what's transpired but if it's stopped a soft-tissue-injuries riddled 2017 then they should really be commended for it.

Time catches up with everyone, the stakes have never been higher for offering this guy the next 1 year deal.

North has made the announcement that Harvey, Firrito, Dal Santo and Petrie will not be re-contracted for next year.

I know its nothing to with the Dees but its interesting nonetheless.

Right decision? Ballsy.

Good motivation for finals? Yeah right

Reminds me of how Junior MacDonald was outed. Hopefully this will psychologically stuff up the Roos for 10 years.

That'd be so good! I'm sick of being beaten by this team of duckers and duds.

Jeez Mark Maclure is a [censored], he thinks there's a good chance North will reverse the decision of the delistings due to supporter backlash.

I'd offer Boomer a 2 year contract  -  we put the youngest side on the park of the 18 clubs last weekend (I heard), imagine his insights.

He'll boost our average playing age from 22.6 to 31.

So you want him to play for us at age 40 so as to increase the average age of of our list? Interesting theory.

I'd imagine Boomer's insights would be all about Boomer.

If the two/three year list management window allows it I would be very much in favour of offering Harvey a one year contract.

We are calling out for guidance from senior players.Love him or loathe him he is the top 100 players in the league.

Hard to see the downside unless it is a list management issue.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
