Watch all the goals from the Hawks game

There's a mixed bag and a team effort but Watts, Oliver, Kent, Jones, Tyson, Gawn and Viney certainly were heavily involved in the scores.

The one that did surprise was how much the Weid was involved in the goals, particularly in the first quarter! He was in nearly every one of them.

Mark and goal, clever handball, chest mark and moving the ball on and so on.

Now it helped that the side seemed 'on' and were up and running through the corridor but the way the Weid got the ball on was great to see. Short attacking kicks and quick movement has been the way to beat the Hawks for a while now (even if most teams can't do it) so maybe that was the catalyst to get guys leading up more, but along the same lines I think the addition of Petracca and Vanders then now Weideman could give us a lot more movement around half forward. The Jeff out the back, Kent in to space (a new addition this year) and Watts (also new this year) and Hogan both carrying a big load forward line was far too predictable.

The goal highlights are amazing.  But from an emotional high, I think the last 10 minutes in it's entirety are better.  Some of the pressure and tackling that we put on the Hawks was immense, together with Maxy's big marks it was the best 10 minutes of football in years.

I really wish the club did more with their YouTube channel. I hate the Bigpond video player.

Same, I find the stream quality drops in and out a heap on my laptop...

As it does on mine, it has also started being very jumpy in the last couple of weeks. Strangely the AFL site doesn't have the same issue.

Not being at the game, it was good to see our contested footy and improved ball use by hand and foot. Handball in particular seemed much quicker and direct, without the usual hospital hand passes.  Don't know if that reflected the entire game but it was a highlight of the highlights.

How good was that clearance by Oliver then the kick to Brayshaw that hits him on the chest and slots it from 50 on the run

Vanders off the ball effort to ensure Brayshaw had that space running forward cannot be understated either. Could just as easily run close looking for a cheap handball receive but just held his man out of the contest. Want to see more of that.

He was paid the free - Brayshaw took the advantage

Just quietly, apart from kicking three of his own, Jack Watts and his absolutely sublime delivery led to three more in the last quarter alone (hitting Pedo on the lead, Tyson for the sealer, Tyson's last one from just forward of the centre circle). There were probably others through the game that I can't recall.

He is just a supremely important player. What a bloody star.

Kent put a couple down Watts' throat too - he is seriously underrated going into 50 and has great chemistry with Hogan too.

yeah he was paid a free because he stopped and blocked to keep the space and his man tackled him in frustration. Free or no free the decision to make the space was good. I like seeing good off the ball efforts Watts does then as good as anyone. If more players develop it we will be a much better side.

Absolutely. Was sensational work.

I've mentioned previously how Robert Flower played even better when in the Victorian team because he was in the right spot and the ball actually got to him. Perhaps part of the improvement in Watts is something similar - as the players around him get better, his kicks which perhaps always went to the right spot now actually have the players at the other end who maximise their value.

I'm sure you're right. Just as important is that the delivery into him is getting better too, giving him more chances at kicking goals. The couple of laser passes from Kent spring to mind, and that one over the top that was kicked perfectly to his advantage inside 50.

I watched Hawthorn's goals too.

1. 50m penalty

2. free kick Rioli (hit on shoulder during diving handpass straight after Oliver bump)

3. Turnover after Brayshaw was not paid an obvious 50m penalty when Hawthorn booted the ball away well after the whistle

4. Free kick in the square right after Bernie got his nose smashed.

5. 50m penalty

6.  Rioli, right after his dumping tackle on Weidemann

I think the scoreboard flattered Hawthorn. They shouldn't have gotten any of these.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
