An Emma Q article on Brayshaw and Petracca playing together http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/together-at-last-christian-petracca-and-angus-brayshaw-20160805-gqlu7z.html

They will be a formidable duo!  Glad they are in our side!

Emma was the only person from the press to tip Melbourne to beat Hawthorn (by 10 points)! I always liked the girl!

To me it seems like a bit of a wild late season tip from someone who's slipped behind a bit, out of the Age's tipsters she seems to go for a huge upset most often

Don't forget Billy Stretch - he often gets left out of these conversations and is showing as much as anyone.

Yeah I forget he's still 19 too. He's impressing me a lot every few games and then slips under the radar a bit

Just a gut feeling I have, but Jack V, Gus, Clarrie, Trac, Billy and Hunty seem like the sort of kids that crave success together more than they crave big bucks.  I hope so anyway, 'cos that's the type of attitude that the ultimate success is built on.

Wow we are playing Hawthorn tomorrow and I dont feel a sense of dread for the first time in a decade.  There is actual excitement about the game.

Now that may disappear after the 1st quarter, but its a great feeling.

any word on Hogan?

Odds are that he will play as Roos said he would withdraw him today if he didn't train well or pull up ok.  But that could have been doublespeak and he gets until 1pm tomorrow.

For now, no news is good news!

Really need Hogan to play... The Weed will need some cover, and I am dead keen to see how they look playing together.

Us winning tomorrow with the team of kids we have playing, would be beyond epic.

I think it's safer to expect a decent loss tomorrow. Can't see us getting close to them by the final siren.

M Jones' elite running puts him above Harmes for mine.

M Jones gets to more contests and provides outside run. Harmes doesn't. They both turn it over. So M Jones does more, IMO.

After 3 years I am amazed that some still don't understand Roos and selection. Harmes was never getting dropped after the mark and hit in the middle of the ground.

I do not expect to win tomorrow but I have a weird feeling and excitement to see so much of our future playing as one. I have an engagement  party with the wife in Geelong tomorrow night and have told the wife I will meet her down there after the train ride from the G.

I'm relaxed about the game because I don't expect to win but I'm just excited to see so many young players play together. If Salem was playing that would be perfect.

It's exciting for sure. It is a ludicrously inexperienced side so a bloodbath is possible, but there should still be some glimpses of the future.

Salem is the only young gun missing tomorrow, unless you are a half glass full person in which case you could add Trenners as well.

Which is silly, tbh.

Credit to him for the act of bravery. But it's one act. Most of what he did in attack was diabolical and he was the only player not to lay a tackle.

But good luck to him. He gets yet another chance while players at Casey continue wondering which dog or relative they ran over.

Those players at Casey are looking forward to Saturday night and another chance for a win and secure decent finals placing and then a charge at the flag, I know because I spoke to some of them at training, if their good performances are rewarded with a spot in the AFL side good, but if not "we are having fun down there"

I'm very relieved but for different reasons. I thought for a moment you were gonna say ... "I'm Relaxed, we've got this"...

I'm a bit worried about Salem and his thyrotoxicosis. He has had a long time off this year. I hope he is being managed by a good endocrinologist.

I spoke to him at training, he is fine now, 'they' have it under control, he has put back the weight he lost (5kgs) during the latest bout

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
