I really wonder at times ( like now ) if this team has really come any distance or is it just the names on the lockers just cloud the reality.

We still play a lot of dumb soft footy and still get kicked in the nuts by the likes of the Saints

2016 and still very ordinary.

Don't delude yourselves folks. It's a merry go round going nowhere ..... Still !!!

We all get it Stu. Selection.

Was that because they stayed out too late?

I'd like to know how it was lost at selection though.  Please name the players at Casey that would have changed that result and had us win the game.

Please tell what miraculous Thursday night magic would have changed today's result Stu!

Nah you guys are right, the Saints are just an awesome side and they beat us at our best, we weren't tired at all and fresh legs wouldn't have made any difference...

It's not like we have an example of a time we've won at Etihad when we brought in a fresh, small, quick team and beat decent opposition...

I don't buy us being tired or whatever.  Not enough players rose to the occasion.  They stopped Hunt's run, Kennedy was poor, White and Grimes were WELL down on last week, Hogan had a mare, the captain was quiet, Vandenberg didn't do a whole lot... and the list goes on.

Agree with that ... but then hard to see how it can then be prefaced by "we lost in the coaching".

From what I can see, we lost it through the above, or to put it another way, not sure what the coaches could do when the above (and more) is going on.

(BTW, you missed Nate Jones from the above. Either sick or carrying something, his worst game since ... well, I'm not sure when. And boy, does it show!)

It's not selection Stu. I firmly believe it's up top for most of our guys, they don't want it enough.

As predicted, I'm sure we'll say that the Freo game took it out of us.

Can't say that if we've renewed the contract and if we do then I will flip out.

I did mention him big fella - "the captain was quiet" - but yes, it was his worst game in sometime.  People on here are now quick to pot him and it's grossly unfair.  How many times has he given his heart and soul to a game and been our only standout?  He had a shocker, but he can be forgiven for one from time to time.

That's not an answer.  Who would you have selected that would have won us the game.  No going around in circles Stuie, no sarcastic and over the top responses.  If you want to go with that narrative I'd love to know exactly who from Casey would have helped us win that game of football today.

The most frustrating thing about the Roos tenure is that we keep getting fools made of us by teams that we should beat.

Agreed, he's got a lot more runs of the board than just about anybody in the team. No need to rush Viney into the captaincy, it will come.

That's what I'm saying, we've agreed to play there for another two year so we can't use it as an excuse and if we do then it's just opening the door for some serious anger from the fans.

I just reckon it's a shallow excuse and, believe it or not, I think Stuie should know better.  If we don't go out there with the right mindset and we haven't planned for a side correctly then it doesn't matter what cattle you have on the park - you'll lose.  Why he keeps running with this narrative is beyond me.

On today's performance it may get very ugly now for the remainder of the season. Can't see us winning more than one more. Some serious whippings ahead for the boys coming up. And it's going to a be a feast of self flagellation for the fans.

If teams let us play the corridor, we look great.

If they close up the corridor, we have very few other ways of moving the ball forwards.

And we get smashed by teams that have a system at stoppages and can tie up our Auskick British Bulldogs tactics.

It's not Darwin it's the team. I was in Darwin last  week and it was a perfect night. Low humidity. The ground was wet from watering. Hawthorn wouldn't f---ing lose after playing there. Sick of Darwin always being the excuse

Spot on Akum.  In the last quarter they stopped us getting it into the corridor, and what happened?  We went long to a contest and they just picked it off, got it forward and scored.  Right now we have no plan B when this happens.

Will be a tough finish to the season if we play like this more often, but I'm keen for Goodwin to take the reins for 2017 and see what he's made of.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
