Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Surprised Hunt is not mentioned as a possible candidate for omission . Whilst he is intermittently spectacular , he surprises on  a weekly basis with his low disposal numbers .  I would love to see Grimes get an opportunity .

Disposals aren't everything. I thought Hunt was very good on the weekend.

Hunt provides run that Grimes can't. I actually thought Hunt was among the best in the first half, he tired a little in the second but he is still young and has a high ceiling. That "spectacular" run is invaluable, we havent had that kind of pace coming out the backline for as long as i remember. Not everyone can be 30+ accumulators you need c couple of players who can have 15 touches and still have an influence. I'd like him to lower his eyes once in a while but I wouldnt want him taken out of the side. If they wanted to rest him, then sure, but with the bye coming, i doubt it

Out: Wagner (Love him, but give him a spell in the 2's)
In: M. Jones. (Was very good for us before he did his ribs and would like his experience)

But even then...Lumumba are just as capable.

How good is having depth?!?!

Put this in the Grimes thread but relavant here also:

I think Grimes is real chance of being picked this weekend, replacing Stretch. Good time to give Billy a rest with the bye coming up and Grimes is playing a similar role at Casey (wing/mid). It will be atough, wet game so an a mid twenties hardened AFL player will come in very handy.

I also thought these comments from Plapp in this VFL player review were interesting and perhaps a indicator Grimes is a chance:

'He was taken off the ground at three quarter time due to some stuff at AFL level that we just needed him to be ready for but we were really happy with Grimesy.'

3 changes given 6 day turn around and forecasted wet conditions.

Matt Jones for Stretch

Mitchie for Oscar McDonald

Harmes/Grimes for Oliver

Effectively replacing kids for some more seasoned footballers.

I noticed in the Casey game on the weekend Grimes seemed to come off very early in the last or maybe even late 3rd and didn't come back on... Did not look injured, I wonder if he is already been considered for the trip to SYD due to the 6 day turnaround ??

Said much the same a few days ago Binman, I reckon he will play.

Those calling for Vanders to be dropped have rocks in their head. His 2 or 3 games back.....ready to breakout..... We need his hard body against Sydney.

Watched the replay last night to confirm Vanders went more than ok and had about 5 goal assists and some great tackles and important blocks so I agree whole heartedly with you gOLLY

Oliver out?  He has been managed superbly this year, and will get another rest next week.  We are playing a tough. contested footy team, and you want to drop one of our beasts?

Don't think Oscar will be dropped either.  While he is still making some frustrating mistakes, it's clear that he's improving each week.

My money will be on "No Change", but could see the Stretch omission being a possibility.  Would presume he would be replaced by one of Grimes, M Jones or ANB.

The bye coming up will provide the young blokes with the handy rest you are speaking of bin. Doubt the FD would drop a key play maker/link man unless he was dropping off substantially (a small blip against the Hawks but bounced back ok on Monday) and the bye weeks away.

Reckon they'll run with no changes this week.

Not sure we can pick all our bigs? Three defenders over 195 cm? One has to go especially with Tippett out.

Depends on who they bring in, but might be time to give Oscar a rest if a big needs to go out? Especially if it's wet

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
