If Vardy was available l say get him subject to a medical of course. We need another backup ruck, forward for Max and Spencil.

And interim before King shows any maturity.  We so need that forward/follower.

So Vardy, or whoever, we need one.

Would love Rockliff. Mature age, we know he is a great leader and would add to our midfield and yes we need our young midfield to get games we also need to think about if any of them get a serious injury. We need other players to help. I think he'd be a great addition

Not now with Viney Oli etc.   We need speed, quick, skilled, clean pace, in our younger brigade.

Tommy can go to Saints or Hawks or Blues.

Maybe they don't like his style? Doesn't mean our players won't..

Yes probably expects them to try harder and put in. Meaningless statement

Any thoughts on Liam McBean from the Tigs? 202cms and has kicked a fair few goals in the VFL over the last few years. He'd come as a delisted free agent so effectively get him for nought and wouldn't cost much salary.

I know when he's played seniors he hasn't done a whole lot, but I wonder if that's because the way Richmond play don't suit him at all. In a team that moves the ball better and quicker he could provide that fwd-ruck role we're crying out for. Not sure what his ruckwork is like, but has the height for it.

Rookie list at best I suspect.

I think he's soft as butter but he kicked a stack of goals in his first year in the VFL then hasn't got any better. A speedy 2nd ruck ala Josh Jenkins would really suit us as we could play that player alongside Hogan, Weid and Watts, but I don't think McBean is AFL quick nor does he have much by the way of defensive pressure. Don't think he's up to it.

Brett Anderson: Outside of Hibberd it's been very quiet around Melbourne regarding trades @SENAfternoons

Because we dont have a 1st rounder or because players still dont want to come play for us?

Dont think I can handle a boring MFC trade period.  Rumours of any big fish coming will be shot down immediately as we dont have a 1st round pick.     zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I love the silence.. I hated being the club linked to everyone, who attracted no one.. Now that is Richmond and to some degree Collingwood.

You mean Collingwood who got Treloar and Richmond who are getting Prestia?

It's ok, at least we scored Kennedy...

I agree.  Just because we're quiet doesn't mean that we don't have things going on behind the scenes.  We all know how silly the Tigers were made to look last year, so I like the fact that we generally go about our business in a quiet and efficient manner.  There is no need to bang on the drums in the media.

Whats really sad is that Mark Neeld landed  a bigger fish in his first month on the job (Mitch Clark) than Roos did in 3 years.

Really, some of the pick positioning and players gained have been a success.  Oliver/Weiderman, Tyson/Salem on top of Brayshaw/Petracca, plus Vince, Cross and Frost, I think Roos and co have fished pretty well over the past three years.

Looking through the blue smoke and I hear an idea that could make you scratch your nuts and it involves the suns with whom we are on positive terms and so if they have picks 4 8 21 23 24 and 27 and they get 6 for prestia perhaps they would be forward thinking and give us 8 in exchange for our 2017 first rounder now would that be irony or serendipity?

Dom Tyson...already been streets ahead of Clark and still has a big career ahead of him.

Perfectly reasonable. I'd suggest both Collingwood and us would be asking around Gold Coast and GWS to get back in to the first round.

Gold Coast also have a top 5 rated academy kid and you can't pay for them with a bunch of cheap picks this year. So they'll probably look to trade up with Essendon or Brisbane and will surely look to trade picks back to next year.

As an alternative to getting pick 8 we might have to gamble with getting picks 21 and 23 from them, sending one for Essendon to overpay for Hibberd as is our wont, and then having 2 top 30 picks this year if we favour getting in more depth of talent instead of another top 10 pick. Early days but I'm not a huge wrap for the top 10 in this draft and we need depth of talent so it might be a good idea.

Yep, the gulf between top 10 picks and the end of the 2nd round is not as great this year, compared to other years. Though i don't really rate this year's draft quality as good as other year's either.

Next year is supposed (though they say it just about every year) to be a bumper crop.

I think they meant in regards to the perception at the time. Mitch Clark was the big fish of that trade period, and his signing was supposedly huge for the club.

Dom will be a better player easily, but was just another GWS mid being squeezed out

Yep, I know what they meant 'Mickey' but it shows the folly of putting a lot on the line for a big fish.

Will watch this draft/trade period with interest.

Expect nothing early on but wouldn't be surprised to see us pull something out in the end, not a big fish though.

I wouldn't mind a quiet trade period or two. Key for us is to keep our top 10 players under 22 yo. For the first time in a looooong time we have great young talent.

When oliver tracca brayshaw etc have 50 games under their belt, bring in a senior gun.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
