This was all pretty obvious from a long way out , its just that as always, an unpopular opinion on here is ridiculed. Its interesting to watch the momentum of group think slowly swing but , this is all old news.

In my mind, he was gone from the time I saw his mid week press conference at the beginning of the year that I was shot down for commenting on what I still consider to be full of pretty obvious deflection and body language.

Its been clear for months hes out of here but Ill enjoy the site as the demonland egos dance around the topic as it plays out

Not sure Jesse is the right fit for our club! If he doesn't want to commit, then we might be be better trading for him whilst he is still in contract. He has great potential but I don't think he is the upside of a Jeremy Cameron, a Tex Walker or a Jake Stringer. Last year he won the Rising Star and looked great but this year he is obviously discontented with his place at the club. It could just be the attention that he is receiving from the top defenders in the competition or maybe he is waiting to see how Goodwin goes. I guess if we play finals next year he will probably stay!

It's been mentioned on here a few times but there are reasons why the family pull would be a bit stronger for Jesse than it might other interstate players, i still think given our list that Jesse will sign on and i think it'll happen sooner rather than later but he wouldn't be human if leaving wasn't tempting.

Given the family reasons for going back, he would want to be there sooner rather than later.  So he would be better off asking for a trade now than spending another year away from his family.  No-one gains from that.

Really, if he wants to go home why wait till next year?  (I do not want him to go, just being pragmatic)

Good god some of the comments here are pathetic.

4 months and he's going to re-sign. I don't know what the problem is.

Because he has a contract that gives him the right and he's allowed to be genuinely undecided, people forget this guy is 21, i know when i was 21 i would have really struggled with this, he's loyal to Melbourne, we're on an exciting path but his family is in perth and there is a pull home.

Paul Roos said last night on open mike that Jesse had shown absolutely no signs or given any indication that he was going to leave the footy club so that's a good sign

Neither had James Frawley before he left according to Roos......

Body language ????? Give us a break !!!!  Are you going to read the tea leaves and the coffee grounds as well ?? I've read all of those things as well as the entrails of a couple of chickens. All of which are telling me clearly that Jesse is staying.

Hogan for Fyfe is the only trade I would accept if he nominated Freo.

Theres nothing else that would work or be fair.

Lets not forget their 1st round pick, which we can then send to Gold Coast for Prestia, o'mera or swallow.

I bet Roos knew Frawley was leaving. That's why he played him up forward.

Hogan cannot hold the Dees to ransom. We no longer need to rely on one person. We are also in an awkard position by not having a number one draft pick. Goodbye Hogan and good luck excvept when playing the Dees.

Demons11,I remember when we pick up Kelvin Templeton from the Dogs,100 goal kicker one year,we also got Peter Moore a Brownlow medalist from Collingwood. Those two top class players played for the Dees in 1983,84 and 85. In 83 Pies 6th,Dogs 7th and the Dees 8th.in 84 Pies 4th,Dogs 7th and Dees 9th. in 85 Dogs 2nd,Pies 7th Dees 11th. Each of those year the comp.was called the VFL and it consisted of a final five. Based on you way of thinking we should have been better than the Pies and Dogs. The supporters  may also think there goes success yet the Pies and Dogs each played in a final from 83-85,we didn't. There are many more cases that I can quote. What happens if Hogan demands a ridiculous sum of money and we then find ourselves unable to keep the likes of Oliver,Petracca,Brayshaw etc.

What is he waiting for?

The Whorethorn game showed him the good.

The Carlscum showed him the bad

Putting off contract talks says he is talking to other clubs to me.

Pav has retired. The Shockers could pay him a fortune.

We can't wait forever....

I reluctantly suspect you may be right SWYL. It would be hugely disappointing if that were to be the case but remember that very few players are irreplaceable. Buddy is the most obvious recent example of this. I would love him to sign prior to the season proper.

Sure. I want him to stay. But if his mind is elsewhere there is no point.

The Weed could be just as good...Could be.

We are too fragile a club to cope with his massive ego. Better for him and us if we part sooner.  Only come to grief like a bad arranged marriage.

Well it sounds like we've given up on Hogan re-signing.. What's with the talk about him holding us to ransom and having an ego?

He put off contract talks until the end of the season. Most of us were fine with this when it was announced. The season for us has been over for less than a week and already posters are losing it. He's gone home and will probably discuss his future with his family. I don't think we're going to get an answer within the next couple of weeks so probably best to just relax a little.

He said he was waiting to the end of season.  Our season only finished 5 days ago.  Give it a rest

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
