There is certainly a buzz about this match. More buzz than for any match I can recall in many years.

however, having watched the replay of the Gold Coast match my confidence is waning. Truly our defence was poor. No better than in the awful display v Saints. The GC talls other than Lynch ( who was given some defensive attention) found themselves marking against players such as Michie ,Jetta and Vince. We smashed them in the end because of midfield dominance.

We are simply undersized with the present team selection. I'm not certain that the Dogs have a bunch of talls to hurt us, but it worries me like hell. I like the look of Wagner and Hunt but we need someone of the height of OMac in place of one of them, assuming Salem regains his place on HBF

My brother-in-law has a theory that if any Dee's player who is in the team for that week , is on the Channel 9 Footy Show, we loose that week.

 Jack Viney is on the show tonight, so I will have great pleasure in seeing this theory blown apart when we win on Sunday. Go Dee's

One of the things that I discovered about the Western Bulldogs and their major breakout year last year is that they certainly played some good football, particularly in the latter stages of the year but they were blessed with a rather easy fixture. It was however, the regular winning of games that built their confidence and, in the end were rated possibly more highly than might have been.

Their wins this year have come against Fremantle, St. Kilda, Carlton, Brisbane and Adelaide - the latter being their major scalp. All games have been at Etihad. They also lost close ones to Hawthorn and North (a low scoring game) at the same ground. Unlike us, they have won the games they should have won but I really have this feeling that they are gettable on the G.

not a bad theory.  similarly when we get media love, we capitulate.  no good in the pink either, from memory, or the white guernseys.  but all these silly little things have to be swept aside.  we gotsta win games. bottom line.  and each week presents us with another opportunity.

personally don't think we will win, they play at a different level to us at present. I thought the Crows would find them out due to the injuries but nope. Also I think our skills/turn overs are still to sloppy/prevalent.

Really looking forward to seeing how we go as I think we will give a good account.

No obvious replacement for Kent out of those 4 ins, maybe ANB......gonna be more outs this time tomorrow id reckon, but id be happy if it was ANB in for Kent, Play it safe with Salem and his concussion.

Salem is a lock though, and I can't see either he or Michie playing Kent's role. Thoughts?

Think you're right, ANB is definitely a better replacement for Kent than Michie if it ends up that way.

Perhaps Bernie moves up the ground a bit, Salem slots back in usual spot and Harmes takes the main defensive forward role? Stretch I suppose could play forward of centre. Not too sure.

As Django said ANB would probably be a better replacement, but doesn't look like Michie is going anywhere.

I'm not saying Michie was bad last week, just think he's in the "depth player" part of our list, and when better players are available they come in at their expense.
