Things I loved about tonight:

Oliver - What a gun. Those hands are arguably without equal. Brilliant.

Petracca - I loved that his contribution to his first game and a half were largely score assists, one per centers etc. Will be a gun, but has an idea now that it won't come on a platter.

Stretch - we are better with him in the side.

Very excited about what this team can do

Spewing that I missed this game, but it feels from afar like they've tinkered and tinkered and might be getting close to the team that fits the plan.

Love that Harmes had a huge game.

I honestly can't remember the last time I watched a Dees game in which the four points were in the bag and the fourth quarter was simply 'fun' to watch.   Good times :)

Oh and Petracca's goals. Amazing.

The way they got around him after the first one was hugely encouraging. And that second one was just taking the [censored]. Loved the strut afterwards.

How's this for team stats rankings.

Disposals-2nd. Inside 50's-2nd. Goal accuracy-1st. Contested possessions-1st, Clearances-1st. Handballs-2nd.

Hate to be the devil's advocate here but we have major defensive issues. Teams score far too often when going forward against us. Big test against the Dogs next week. One of the best attacking teams vs one of the best defensive teams. They have so many talls.

I was at the game and behind the goals. I was a little horrified at the height advantage we gave their forewards. But Jetta just plays so far above his height. Just brilliant. as was the mids that stopped it coming in.

How good is party time...I never knew.

I know. When the siren sounded, I smashed the TV, kicked the cat and assaulted my next door neighbour out of habit. What do winners actually do? (beside being grinners)

There was a period in that 3rd quarter we were just electric . Then applied great pressure after that. Great to see Petraccaro looking sweet Viney was epic max Gawn worth weight in gold. GO DEEZ

Show this to anyone who says we haven't improved. Those stats are incredible. Well done, Roosy and co.

The pressure on the ball carrier in the second and third quarters was manic. That's where,  blokes like Bugg, Hunt, Harmes, Wagner, Garlett, Pedo, Viney, Kennedy, etc come into it. When they have the energy the game plan is incredible.

Male or female RTG? Or did you do both husband and wife?  Just love these details

Wow! At halftime I called a loss, and have never been happier to be so completely and woefully wrong. We all know about Petracca, but none of us saw Jayden Hunt coming. Yep, he'll ride a rollercoaster, but he's going to be a very very good footballer. Best game of the year for the chunk too. Our clearance work is simply blistering, even if their midfield was thinned. So much to like, can't imagine how impressive we'll be when we tighten up on the easy transitions and gift goals.

Did Viney come back on after being hurt?

There was vision of him pacing around the rooms like a caged animal, I think he'll be right. Just took a heavy knock I think

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
