We will win this not because we are on a roll or the Saints are not as good as us but because we now have players with better skills who are not mentally damaged.

To me there is still an element of lack of confidence if the mindset isn't right. And we are still prone to awful errors that lead to turnovers and help feed a poor mindset. We have improved, undoubtedly. But there will still be hiccups with this crew.

yeah i dont get that either. Like i hate etihad but at least when we play an interstate team the i can understand why.

Yeah dont care as much of we will have a puny crowd, but the Richmond one will be lower than ours.  More wins and hopefully we see an end to this treatment by the AFL.

I am not saying we are a top team H_T I am saying we have improved our overall player ability substantially since the end of 2014.

That will get us the lollies tomorrow.

I wish I was as confident as you od.

We'll know if they're "ON" after the first 10mins.

If you look at the two sides and who has to play well for them to win one thing really stands out for me

Saints: Rewoldt, Bruce, Fisher, Dempster, Stevens, Joey, Armo, Billings

vs

Dees: Gawn, Viney, Tyson, Vince, Hogan, Jones, Tmac, Jeffy

the age is a huge gap, there has been a handover in my eyes from Vince and Jones to gawn, Hogan Mcdonald and so on which is a stage i don't think the Saints have reached, and when they do i'm not sure the young talent they have is anything like the quality of ours.

we will rise while i think they will tread water until that hand over happens

Some interesting stats (from the Hun today, but Champion data is the source). You don't win games of footy without a midfield and finally we are getting some clearances.

FINALS CONTENDERS? HOW THE DEMONS HAVE IMPROVED

STATISTIC 2016 2015 2014
Contested possessions +7.6 (6th) -1.0 (11th) -1.5 (12th)
Inside 50s +0.8 (8th) -9.0 (15th) -11.6 (18th)
Goals per inside 50 29% (3rd) 23% (15th) 21% (18th)
Mark play on % 39.5% (5th) 31.7% (17th) 27.6% (17th)
Points scored 101.8 (5th) 71.5 (16th) 60.7 (18th)
Points from turnover -5.4 (11th) -9.0 (13th) -16.5 (17th)
Points from stoppages +11.0 (4th) -12.7 (17th) 11.7 (16th)
Number of stoppages 59.8 (8th) 76.3 (3rd) 74.0 (1st)
Hit outs to advantage +5.6 (2nd) +0.2 (7th) -0.2 (10th)

its the other end of the scale where games are won, the above players cancel each other out.

your only as good as your worst player, Brayshaw last week Oliver the week before, not bad worsts, thats why we are winning and will win again.

Hoping Tracc starts on the bench as I think there will be a fair roar when he comes onto the ground for the first time.

Heard from a very good source that Gus Brayshaw was not impressed with being dropped.  He is just not match fit for the next level.  A couple of weeks in the magoos should get him right.

from what I saw in pre season, Gus had a limited buildup and is a bit behind.

I would hope he is not impressed as well. Roos mentioned on Roos Views that he needs a good block of games at Casey to gain fitness and form says this is not a one week stint is probably also not helping.

Unless I've misinterpreted, that's not physically possible, clearly not reflected in the data, and King is an idiot.

I think I've made my feelings about King well known, and for a fact King did not prepare the infographic (am sure it was the unpaid work experience kid) but the graphic is at the 38 min mark of the show, and shows midfield rotations and 65% was the highest. Obviously didn't work today, and he was flat wrong about defense you need a settled back 6

Geez tomorrow is important if we want any chance of finals. C'mon Dees!

Apart from desperately needing the Dees to show up breathing fire tomorrow, I'll be keeping a close eye on:

  • Geelong v Gold Coast @ Skilled
  • Adelaide v Fremantle @ Adelaide Oval
  • West Coast v Collingwood @ Domain

Ideally we want Geelong, Fremantle and Collingwood to win these matches because it helps move us further up the ladder. Here's hoping there's a few upsets because you wouldn't expect Freo or the Pies to come close on current form.

Apologies for hijacking this thread with a serious question...

I'm heading to the game tomorrow.  As a MFC member, and given it's our home game, do we get allocated a section to sit in?  I'd much prefer to sit on ground level, so any direction as to the best gate to head to would be appreciated.

I believe the club said that we have the Coventry end behind the goals.  I'm not entirely sure which end that is.

The goals closest to Southern Cross station and right of the tv screen.

Another sleepless night coming up for me with the game starting at the crack of dawn local time.

Hoping for a win but feeling a lot less confident than I was last week.

We owe the Saints. I mean who can forget the sh!tfest that was last year's game where we lost the impossible. I don't think I ever wanted to punch the Toump more. Luckily he is gone now.

That's impressive given that Yze and Hendrie were left footers and Stevie J a right footer. Were you equally good at cricket like Bomber Hendrie?

Better cricketer than a footballer, Sheeeit I WAS GOOD!!

Well if we were to lose because we lack mids and clearances then You might have valid reasons for lamenting Oliver not playing! This might be exacaberated if we go in too top heavy! Agree with your last sentence!!

I just would have thought forward line talls Hogan , Jack, Petracca plays tall and you have Pederson also in the mix.

Oliver gives you another mid option and HFF

IMV better at Etihad Vs Saints going in small!

But what do I know according to you blokes?? SFA!

YEAH WELL i WAS RIGHT ON THE FRIGGEN MONEY WASN'T I

CHEEZUS IT WASN'T THAT HARD TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN!
