Will any change make any difference?

No.. watching Wells, Atley, Dal Santo and Harvey using their speed on the outside against Brisbane and then coming up against our slow mids is going to kill us.

Get off Hogan. The guy is a one-out player but we clog our forward line and to top it off kick high and long with no purpose. He can towel up the league's best defenders but our structure is the problem. What do you want him to do? Smile and applaud his teammate's inability to hit a target or honor leads? Yeah, Hogan doesn't lead, but he hangs back and wants the contest. He destroys any opponent one on one. USE HIM! He WANTS the contact. We've been screaming out for a bloke like him for decades and people have the nerve to criticise him when his talents aren't utilised.

If no one is within 20 meters of him and his opponent, kick the bloody ball to him! His teammates ignore him 9/10 times because he doesn't lead into space. He just isn't that kind of player. I thought everyone knew this?

I'd only make the one change and thats bring in Dunn because we need him for matchups. That past 2 weeks the best big man on ground has been oppositions main forward target, Lobb and then Danniher.

The team playing is apparently our "team of competitors" so let's give them the chance to make amends. While this will sound defeatist, I don't wan't make wholesale changes to play North who we'll lose to and then make more wholesale changes again following next weeks loss.

Otherwise our next 2 matches will look something like this:

North
Out: Bugg, Oliver, Brayshaw
In: Dunn, Grimes, ANB

Collingwood
Out: Grimes, ANB, Kent
In: Bugg, Oliver, Brayshaw

There are as many as 10 names on the block.

Bugg, Garland, Harmes, Kent, Brayshaw, VDB, Lumumba, Pederson, Matt Jones and even Oliver (more of a rest) could come under consideration imo.

On the bright side, I don't think we will ever play another game where so many could play so badly.

A good point. But his body language was really poor and he did stop when he wasnt given the free. He's an awesome precense for us but he does need to work on some things. He brings everyone down when he's down. Looking at him and Kent and VDB even Jones and Oliver they looked too physically bulky and sluggish to my eye.

Based on the 2 games thus far I am staggered how anyone that has watched them wouldn't be nominating Kent, Bugg & Harmes for the chop.

Now that Tyson has been identified as just a battler, Kent takes the mantle as the most overrated player on this Forum.  I can't recall a game where he has delivered in more than 2 quarters and many that he hasn't even done that.  Kent must be sent to Casey, played in the midfield and told he won't be picked until he has put 3 x 4 quarter games together.

Out: Brayshaw, Oliver, Harmes

In: Dunn, Stretch, ANB

FB: Garland Dunn  Jetta
HB: Salem  McDonald Lumumba
C:  Stretch  Vince   M Jones
HF: Kent  Hogan  Garlett
FF: Kennedy  Pedersen Watts
Foll: Gawn  Jones Viney
Int: Vanders  Tyson  ANB  Bugg

1 more week for Lumumba and Kent (for speed), Pedersen (ruck), Garland (Waite) and Bugg (Harvey)

The 3 dropped will be back pretty soon but they need fitness (Brayshaw), a rest (Oliver) and I think Harmes needs to add more strings to his bow although he could take Kent's spot, bit of either or there.

Besides Trengove and Tracc getting closer to getting games I think whole sale changes with youth coming in like Weideman, Oscar Mc, Hunt/White/Wagner etc are all possible but I'm hoping the more senior guys can step up with another chance.

I don't think today was a reflection of much more than one side desperate to win to prove the footy world wrong and a side who has had this penciled in as a win for weeks and thought it would just happen, like it did against the Giants,

we don't have the talent to bring any less then 110% effort every week if we want to win 8 plus games this year, we didn't bring the effort and we got taught a lesson by a side who wanted it more,

yes the umpiring was rubbish but the team and a heap of individuals are just not working hard enough at the moment.

Respect your opinion highly so what is your justification for keeping Lumumba beyond speed?

He makes gobsmackingly bad decisions in traffic and it is just so costly. Seniority and one or two galloping runs with a hack kick forward in a match isn't enough to keep him surely.

hope ANB comes in, still havent forgotten his 3 goals down att he Cattery last year

Given our current form we are not going to beat North, what we need to do is make a statement to the players that substandard effort will not be rewarded with a game. I would drop Tom Mac, Bugg, Kent, Harmes, for a start.

In comes Dunn, Trengrove, ANB, Frost or weiderman,

We've got absolutely no chance against the Roos. Don't waste the money even going down there MFC. Take a bye. That's how you played today. What's the difference?

I would do:

Out: Garland, Lumumba, Kent, Bugg

In: Dunn, Frost, Stretch, ANB

Harmes super lucky to survive the chop; I actually think he'll go and H will survive cos he's Roos' golden ticket holder.

B: Jetta - Dunn - Frost

HB: Salem - T McDonald - Lumumba

C: Tyson - N Jones - Neal-Bullen

HF: Watts - Pedersen - Kennedy

F: vandenBurg - Hogan - Garlett

Foll: Gawn - Vince - Viney

I/c: Brayshaw - Oliver - Stretch - M Jones

To be quite frank we're shuffling deckchairs - North will slaughter us next week.

The main reason is they are just going to keep him anyway so almost a waste of time to complain about it but I think more his run and defensive coverage should make some kind of impact without the ball. He has the ability to cover off and then it's hard to imagine him being worse than today with the ball. Maybe he picks up the tempo and for once uses the first option.

I spent most of today yelling at him but the main reason we lost was the complete lack of outside run so that's the focus for this week. The dreadful turnovers and momentum killing certainly don't help but we can't have a team walking through us at will.

what should happen? IN - Dunn, ANB, Stretch, Trengove, Petracca, Weideman, Frost, Hunt

OUT - Tyson, Hogan, Kent, Bugg, Lumumba, Brayshaw, Harmes, Vandenberg

What will happen?

IN- Grimes

OUT - Kent

[censored] great.

How about we don't suggest marking forwards being dropped when the problem was in the midfield today, there's a novel idea.

i reckon the team got a bit pig headed today and it as dissapointing as it is we are still 4-1 so far, worth giving them a chance to make up for it.

Kent needs to be shown an effort like today won't be tolerated from a player with his talent

Is it just me or did Kent and Vanders look overweight today?

Daniher towers over Garland, and his reach and leap is incredible. I'm not sure the player who is the right match-up for him is even on our list. OMac might be it, but not yet.

I would have gone with Frost in hindsight.

And I reckon Oliver will play next week. Unless he is really struggling for match fitness, I reckon he'll play pretty much every game up until the bye. Just as Brayshaw did last year.

I just hope Roosy doesn't try to play a lock down contested possession game to counter that. We must attack next week. We look absolutely hopeless when we move the ball slowly. We need to work hard, move the ball on quickly and hit targets.

I'm in the Kent/Bugg/Harmes camp as well. Grimes is Grimes, but for the moment, would be a step up on all of these down back.

Based on Casey form, either Stretch or ANB to come in plus, of course, Dunn - if he's fit.

Maybe we could get Danks to drop by with a few drugs and hope that the AFL give us a dozen top-up players? It seemed to work for Essendrug!

ANB had 36 touches and kicked 2 goals in the VFL today.

I'd also bring him and Dunn in.

Lumumba is a definite out for me, deciding on the other.

They were running. Fast.

I think we need to have a serious look at our forward set up, they're just bombing away, i am certain we'll be a three goal at least better team the moment we stop that and start lowering our eyes, our forwards leading occasionally would help, the only time Hogan seems to lead is when he see's Watts get the ball.
