Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pleased with those changes.  We add run.  If we find ourselves in need of a tall defender, and/or Pedersen is getting in Hogan's way, he can be put back there.  We've lost arguably the two least AFL ready players in our side and added an experienced rebounder and another young gun mid.  Rubbing my hands together now, can't wait til Saturday now.

In fairness to them, their centre line looks OK..

Goddard    Zaharakis    Merritt

the rest is rubbish.

would have thought Parish was a long way off being able to compete on the inside with any of our mids.

How about the bench

Bugg, Brayshaw, Oliver, Kennedy... few hard nuts, any year of the past 10 i reckon all 4 of them would have been starting 18 without question

i wouldn't assume that will be the starting bench

anyway no such thing as the bench anymore, just 22 players who get an occasional rest on the bench

So the bench will have several dents in it by about 10 minutes into the first quarter (especially if Viney is one of the early rotations) :)

Because he is bloody useless as a player but will no doubt be of value as a coach!

He's on their list to play, not just coach. I'm just interested. Are they waiting till he gets fitter or what?

I'm not as confident as others. It's still just 22 blokes vs 22 blokes with a scoreboard that starts at 0.0.0 vs 0.0.0. We lost to them twice last year and both times the swagger on here leading up to it was exactly the same. They also beat Carlton by 10 goals not long ago. I think we'll win but anything can happen. If you offered me a 4-5 goal victory now I'd gleefully accept it.

If Daniher kicks 5.0 again I'll [censored] lose it. Hate that [censored].

Great changes, looking forward to seeing Harry O get back to his best now that games are opening up and are more free flowing

I think it's pretty disrespectful to call him Harry O.

Dunn will have to improve his disposal i think this is keeping him out. This is what they meant by turnovers further up the ground instead of close to goal and being scored against.

We've lowered our eyes now and want to hit targets quickly within 20-30 metres even Tmac has improved his. Also think his brother plays b4 dunn for this reason aswell

Dunn's disposal is not a problem in my opinion - Essendon are small in the forward line  - Lumumba can go back in my opinion and he adds more run that Dunn.

40 + points is what I expect. Minimum.

If we cannot win by that margin against a side like this, we're in no hope of troubling decent teams this year.

We need to come out breathing fire and be efficient as possible going forward for the majority of the day.

i'm glad you added the + because 40 points would be a fail. should be 60+

I'm also nervous about this game Jaded. When I hear words like 'annihilation' I go back to when the Age published 'The Red and Blueprint to success' (close enough) prior to us playing St Kilda. We were incredibly confident. Maybe 2008. We were flogged.

I always respect your posts RTG and like you (and many others) our history dictates that being confident of a Demons win is a sure recipe for disaster.

However, this is a new team and past failures are just history to most of them. To use a cliché - a new dawn! I am confident we will give Essendon the arse [censored] they so richly deserve.

To be honest I really hope they don't blow the kid Parish up to early.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
