Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A while back there was a rumour that he would eventually like to play his footy in Melbourne (the city) whilst Andrew was still running around for North.

Not sure if that had substance, but I don't think the go home factor would be an issue for him.

It was actually reported back in 2011. Andrew was basically a rookie with not much to see on the horizon whereas David was the gun.

Seriously WTF!!!!

Is it just me or is AFL journalism an utter farce.

Yesterday that poor excuse Robinson has s "scoop" that Jaegar O'Meara is being shipped around for an asking price of $750,000. Today his management comes out and angrily denies it.

Not the first time this year Robbo's been caught making porkies. Ie Collingwood's drug cheating players.

And what about Lachie Neale. He's just re-signed for 3 years and says the stories that he was thinking of leaving were garbage.

Supposedly J Howe's asking price was absolute rubbish as well.

Where is all this coming from? Journo's or agents. We all know how many people were laying it on with Scully and many will never forgive his agent.

I take any talk of any players changing clubs etc as bollocks now. Players, agents and journos all talk special speak nowadays which usually means the opposite to what's really going on.

If you listened to Roos and Malthouse recently discussing player managers on SEN you might read between the lines on this. In fact you didn't have to do too much reading to understand some player managers are not held in particularly high regard...

Personally I still don't like/believe the role they played in the EFC debacle.

The media as a whole have absolutely zero accountability. In my line of work I've witnessed things first hand and spoken with the media then read or watched the story on TV only for it to be reported completely inaccurately. They really do just make things up to suit their agenda. Unfortunately it seems this extends to AFL journalists.

There in lies the rub. Who believes anyone anymore. I believe Roos when he said we'd been discussing Hibberd. That's about the only trading info I have heard since the last trade period that has any veracity.

Never let the truth get in the road of a good story ET.

However I do think some managers intentionally plant stories for effect then deny them.

If I wasn't held accountable for my actions in my line of work I'd most likely take more risks. Journalists and the media aren't accountable, therefore they can make stupid comments and run with statements like Robbo does.

Didn't used to be like this. Seems to me standards have crashed in that place since Sheahan left and Slobbo was elevated. Will never understand that elevation. Certainly a long way from the top of my list of AFL journos.

In the journo's defense, it's in the management's best interests to deny it.

I wouldn't put it past a player agent (not O'Meara's) leaking that garbage to Slobbo, in the hope that he runs with it. Then that player agent can bump up his own client's price, using the fictitious O'Meara $figure as a bargaining tool.

As a former journo I can confirm that 99 percent of these stories come from player agents. They need the journos to help drive up the price of their player which in-turn means more money for them.

I'm conflicted in whether to believe this or not..

I don't think clubs give two shits about what a journo has to write about a player's worth. I'd suggest they have their own idea and wouldn't rely at all on what they hear in the media.

Pimping can't be that difficult surely Ethan? Biffen's been doing it for years.

They market Robbo as "the man of the people". NewsCorp sees "the people" as foul-mouthed, overweight, barely literate drunk bogans. There's your answer.

And the journos benefit by having copy to print. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement.

The only problem I see in landing Prestia is what we need to give up to get him - forget our picks for the moment, as we know they'll have to come in to play.  But what players on our list are expendable, and worth enough, that we can use them as part of the deal?  I guess it all depends on how supporters rate Prestia, as AdamFarr would be happy to hand over Salem, Hogan and Viney to get him, while others think next years pick and ANB would be enough which, as an example, is not enough to get the job done.  I'm interested to hear what others think is a worthwhile and, above all else, logical trade that would get the deal over the line.

Bad luck for O'Meara as he is out for the rest of the season.

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/jaeger-omeara-set-to-miss-rest-of-2016-afl-season-with-knee-injury-may-have-played-final-game-for-gold-coast-suns/news-story/99c1fb4616da6915f0b8fe3dad60eb82

Reminds me of when Jonno Patton was going to leave GWS (rumoured to go to WB), was injured and signed up with Giants almost immediately.  The suitor got cold feet.

O'Meara may be in the same boat and will sign up with GCS soon.  Unless, he is doing a 'Scully' has his deal all signed up and is now protecting himself against further injury.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
