Cross remains with club in off-field role

Announced a couple of hours ago...

Slower than usual, DD ;)

Good article and pleased that he obviously has faith in where we are headed. Shame that he won't pull on the boots for Casey but we are putting together a very strong group in our FD, especially now that McCartney is staying!

I'm so pleased we have managed to retain this highly respected and experienced campaigner at the club. It speaks volumes about how this club is proceeding to claw back it's rightful place in the league. That a person like Cross believes in the club makes me feel really happy. Oh happy day !!!!!!

Being the runner would help the team as well.

really, the runner, hmmn. OK

well I guess that counts out a rookie spot then. thought he could teach onfield with the kids, & we may be able to get him that 250th game during the season.

anyway, all good news.

Absolutely delighted to read this.

Couldn't imagine anyone better to be the runner in 2016 - any message delivered by Crossy would be heavily franked with credibility & inspiration.

Will also be invaluable for younger recruits by introducing them to what level of dedication & commitment is required of a successful modern day player.

Great appointment by the Club

The other side to this coin as I note it is the idea that Cross would want to stick around. I see that in itself as a huge endorsement for us going forward.

When player alumni of his order pronounce a belief and act upon it those that respect him will be similarly infected. Bodes well.

Cross gets Stretch's vote: “Crossy has been awesome. He’s played in a similar role to me throughout the year on the wing and through the midfield and down back as well. I’ve just tried to be a sponge this year; I wanted to take as much as I can from the experienced players in the team,"http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-10-07/cross-a-great-role-model-stretch

Sounds like Stretch has settled in really well and good to see his professionalism.

Viney gets a big tick from Stretch as well: "Stretch also credited some of the “younger guys coming through” like Jack Viney with providing support and guidance to the first year players"

Finally, some role models the newbies can learn from and look up to.

Especially if he could pull off a few intercept marks in defense, am still sad he's not there next year playing.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
