According to many of the afl trade pages on Facebook, Dawes is on the trade table and Toumpas has requested a trade.

Would you miss him !? We won more games when he didn't play from memory.

Thoughts?

While it has been reported elsewhere, and I believe Channel 7 was the first, the above is never a reason to start a thread on here. The sooner people realise Facebook is a horrid place and not worth your time for trade rumours then the better of we'll all be.

IF we were to trade Dawes then you would hope we had a replacement all lined up. While Dawes certainly hasn't set the world alight he does take the pressure off Jesse, and with Fitzy being delisted it leaves us with Pedersen... and not much else.

I hope the FD know what they're doing if these rumours are true.

Maybe we do have a tall forward lined up in a trade. Would make sense... we are very light on for big forwards if we trade Dawes (as bad as he is)

Saw it on a Facebook trade page. You might as well have just said "I made this up completely". It might not be your fabrication but it's certainly someone's.

I really doubt the club is looking to trade Dawes.

Apparently was reported by Tom Browne from channel 7

Facebook isn't the foe. It's just a face ( npi ) of how Everything goes these days. Its a manipulative tools in some hands.

It's clever really. Put something out there. .see what happens.

It's all a game

I probably should have said that those pages were quoting Tom Browne

Hogan kicked more goals in his debut season than Chris Dawes has kicked in 3 seasons at Melbourne.

He isn't performing the role he was brought in to do and 2015 was his second worst scoring year since debut. Do the maths and a return of pick <30 would be a huge win for us.

It also won't happen. His best is behind him and his body is battered.

If we trade Dawes,as Wiseblood said we'll need to have a replacement lined up. Even if the plan is for Pedersen to be Hogan foil, we need someone else is the squad to cover injuries.

I know a few weeks back we were linked to Josh Walker at one point. Then there's a few delisted free agents we could look at like Mason Shaw or Mitch Harvey.

I'd be keen on Shaw, but if there's no one lined up then we may as well keep Dawes for the last year of his contract for depth.

Dawes has been effectively missing for most of the last 2 years, so not sure about that.

Frost, Oscar Mac and Pedersen are available, with King waiting in the wings. Think we're probably OK, you only have to look at where all Hawthorn's goals came from yesterday.

Unless we get a heavily favourable deal, I can't imagine us moving Dawes until we have a half-decent replacement to help out Jesse.

And currently, nobody at the club works harder onfield to help out Jesse, or is as clever about it.

Never underestimate the stupidity of other clubs. ;)

Richmond gave up pick 28 for Shaun Hampson.

I agree... to a point.

Oscar Mac and King are still developing, and to be fair Oscar has been playing as a backman. King has shown glimpses at VFL level but is still some distance away from being a foil for Hogan. Pedersen, and possibly Frost, are our only true options for supporting Hogan if Dawes were to be traded. I still think that leaves us a little light on up forward and getting at least one tall in for further coverage would make sense.

In another thread it was noted that Ess are interested in Dawes. So maybe he is part of the Melksham trade eg our 3rd rnd pick + Dawes for Melksham.

It is hypothetical but I would do that deal in a flash!

Much better than giving up our 2nd rnd, we move him while we have the chance (very hard to do when he is OOC next year) and we free up salary cap. Win/win.

His contract is too expensive for another team to take him. The only way I could see us getting rid of him is if we paid some of his salary.

Dawes' contract would have been greatly front ended so his salary next year shouldn't be a problem.

If we had to cover any of it it would be quite small and it would be worth it so that we can get another deal done (as I doubt the club would be trying to get a draft pick for him).

Plays 15 games a year with wooden hands. He's got 2 - 3 seasons left. We'd be lucky to get pick 50 wouldn't we?

I'm all for improving the list but not sure the return for Dawes would make it worthwhile.

2-3 seasons ?

What do you base that on? Surely more than his age.

Do people not want trade rumours here or something? Facebook was references. Viewer discretion advised but it actually came from channel 7

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
