Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Key Forward. 196cm. 91kg.

If we don't trade our Pick 6, would we be better off going a Key Fwd instead of a midfielder type, to have a long term partner for Hogan?

I've heard a couple of recruiters say if he wasn't injured this year, he would be a top 5 pick easily.

Thoughts?

I'd prefer we went for another midfielder and tried to fill the forward gap through trading or a later pick.

If only Hopper were available.

Why are the first two names i think of when it comes to drafting KPF'S early are Luke Molan and Lucas Cook?

If Charlie Curnow is available at 6 we'll take him. Otherwise expect us to draft a midfielder like Mathieson, Tucker, Balic etc.

Why don't I throw some other names at you then

Pavlich, Franklin, Riewoldt, Roughead

There's definitely an element of risk to drafting KPF's early, but to compare Weideman to Cook or Molan is unfair on him. Every chance he could be just as good as the other names I listed

When i say early, i don't meañ early in the draft, i mean earlier then where they were expected to be taken.

The names you mentioned were all expected to be high draft picks. Cook was expected to be a mid 2nd round pick and Molan early 2nd round from memory. Weideman is expected to go from about pick 10-16 range, so i'd have big concerns of we took him at 6.

If we hang on to pick 6 I don't believe we would take Weideman but if we trade out and end up with a pick in the mid teens, there's a chance that this might happen.

Our priority is to get a midfielder and pick 6 in the draft would give us a crack at a highly touted mid.

If, on the other hand, we trade the pick then it's likely that we would have done so to get a good midfielder and that would leave it open for us to look to a different choice with our first (albeit later) pick.

I would take him. Bigs are hard to get. If you trade for one you up big. So take one when you can. Mids are easier to get through the draft, trade and FA!!!! Hopefully Trengove recovers and gets back to best++. Petracca to come in, Kent back. Maybe Melksham and Kennedy.

We have plenty of mids developing.

Cook was a dud... But Molan just had lots of injuries!

Nice to hear someone else agrees with me re Molan, who nobody could judge because of recurring impact injuries. Silly boy for going in so hard.

Disagree with you wording re Cook though. IMO no player should be referred to with as offensive a ward as dud: sure didn't make the grade, may have never been up to it and may have been a poor pick (clearly) but he put himself in and was selected. I will never use that word dud.

Back to topic - is this guy up to it as a KPP? Can he ruck? If so they will have to weigh him and up.

If we keep 6, our priority is mids, mids and more mids. Trade for KPFS in the future as they generally take longer, Hogan excepted

of course it is, & this is why Curnow is in order there.

but IF we are able to trade for a pick around P-10 or 11, maybe the Gold Coasts 2nd pick in that range? then I hope for the Weide.

#edit: Or if we traded down Via {P-6 + a Watts or Howe}, for a Prestia or O'Meara + GCS P-11 type deal, then I would be pretty happy to spend on Weideman.

Pick 6 is a mid if we keep it. Wouldn't be surprised if we traded out of the first and second round if the right deal comes up.

Weideman will be solid, but I can't see him going as early as pick 6 if we held on to that pick.

No doubt it will be Howe's opponent. And Kennedy will give the assist after a long kick from Lumumba. Followed by a Bali holiday advertisement featuring Bucks on the big screen, in front of 94,565 fans watching on.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
