Relton Roberts

Straight Sets Simon

Cut down in his prime but from all reports eager to get back into the AFL after being poorly developed by Richmond, Relton Roberts is a tackling machine who is unique in that he can kick the ball too.

His highlights from only a handful of years ago show how exciting he could be. He along with Lumumba or Salem on the half back would terrorise opposition players for many years to come.

I'm not sure of his current contract status, but I would think that $700,000 over three years to start things off could be enough to lure him back to Melbourne. We of course would need to use our first round draft pick on him as it is likely that other clubs are showing a keen interest in this once in a lifetime talent.

We already know he looks good in the red and blue so let's make it happen!

No

Serious dedicated hard nut footballers who will run through brick walls and set a strong team culture in the Viney & Brayshaw mould

That is what we want

Jurrah was a freak but for all our howling down of Toumpas v Wines/Stringer & Watts v Natanui, Jurrah cost us Rockliff

can we pay him in pies and beer?

He'll be 30 years old by next season but with a bit of conditioning and a few weeks pre season I'd say he'll come good.

It's a big old yes from me.

I take it that he has enough 'X' factor for you, Ethan?

I remember the stories about him smashing burgers and pies before games for Richmond.

They were horrible, fabricated and downright unfair lies. I believe Relton deserves a second chance.

Pedigree is good.

Is the brother of Fitzroy, Richmond and St kilda star, commentator and Metrosexual Michael Roberts.

How long did you spend typing that up, CB ??

Hopelessly unfunny. Get a life.

Lighten up. I thought it very humurous. Poking a bit of fun at posters who start threads at the mere mention of a player being named in the media regardless of their current situation, contract status or footy ability.

If we swap our round 1 and round 3 draft picks to Carlton for Ciaran Sheehan & Ciaran Byrne then Carlton trade pick one and their Priority pick to Sydney for Buddy Franklin and Sydney trade pick 2 and Aliir Aliir to Collingwood for their 3rd round pick and Jarrod Witts to Essendon for Melksham and their 2nd round pick then, ..... damn I forgot where I was going with that.

Edit:- That's right and then we could get Relton Roberts in a swap for a 1976 Cortina a packet of Winfield Blue and two Ciaran's.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
