Sometimes you need to trust the club

Hasn't always worked

But they see something and I trust them

I really hope he succeeds

sometimes they hold off to give the player the hurry up, wake up call... to work harder over the following Pre season, as they are close to the edge. He is getting into his 20's now, & he has to start doing some things to earn his stripes as an AFL player.

..... the ball is in his court next season, but he will have to start showing some 'intent', or he will be gone this time next year.

[censored] off then. Don't need pathetic little supporters like you supporting this club.

Pleased the club has backed him.

I'll admit that a small to medium part of the reason I want him to make it is just to spite all the "supporters" who have pilloried him endlessly.

He would have been delisted if he wasn't pick 4 in the draft.

No he wouldn't have been. He's a 21 year old player on the fringe. History is absolutely chock full of players in this situation being given the benefit of the doubt.

To get delisted at that age, you have to have done pretty much nothing at all.

The major reason I didn't think he'd make it was that he's been languishing in the VFL for the second half of the year. I hope he has a good pre season and can string some good footy together next season. We need all the good ball users we can get our hands on.

It takes some players 4 or 5 years for the penny to drop. The Toump must be one of them. Coaches obviously think he will turn out a good player - lets hope they are right!!

Manny I hope you are right, I want to believe it but I am trying to think of a draftee in recent years who has struggled to get a game with us then managed to turn it all around. Nifty Nev did it but he showed something very early I thought then was cruelled by injuries before then getting his body right and being able perform to his ability. Has there been anyone else?

Kinda surprised at those who are so certain that this is a mistake.

I'm happy for him, and think it's a good decision by the club.

Those questioning timing should consider that maybe negotiations have been ongoing, and that the decision may have been made some time ago but not announced of finer details worked out.

I know of definitive decisions about the future of players at another club, that were made 6+ weeks ago, yet have not been announced.

Cale Morton was gone by then and scarily he showed more than Toumpas ever did. That's the scary part. I hold as much hope of him making it as winning powerball this Thursday. Roosy if you are reading this I'm sorry for being negative but he ain't much chop.

Bear in mind that he had a bad concussion in there at one stage.

It would be novel to use Toumpas in a sentence without Wines as a starting point

We are investing heavily hoping, hoping that he turns it around??

On what basis??

Has shown something in one or two games!

Sheeit he aint Menzel after a million knee reco's!

Just Flabbergasting!

I just want these development coaches to show me a clear outcome. Watts looked like it for a bit but has regressed...

Toumpas can be a player but not without a great deal of work.

Let's see what Macca and the rest of coaches can make of him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
