Hird choking up in presser...crocodile tears!

Just shoring up his support with fans.

Nauseating!

Surely this (after BB's 'success' with Voss) will be the last golden boy who is rushed into coaching without some sort of apprenticeship.

Alistair Clarkson has been arguing for years that all coaches should be properly trained and accredited before being given the reins of a club. Any club who now chooses to employ as a coach anyone not properly trained is being derelict and should be called out for doing so.

Ok so that's Hird,

"Massive decision by Hird. Enormous respect." bomberblitz

Cant even see the fact he was sacked when it is spelt out for them!

Sounds like Robbo has been drinking since lunchtime.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him take a swing at Paul Little on the way out.

I actually didn't think Voss was that bad and was doing okay.

What would you expect James Hird to do? He's always put the interests of the Essendon club ahead of his fighting instincts. If told to resign or be sacked, of course he'd resign. To allow them to sack him would tear the club apart and he would never want to do this. A very sad day after a very sad time.

Any word on who will be taking over? We laugh but they do actually have a fair amount of proven guys who can step in, then they also have Neeld.

This was a LONG time coming, funny thing is that I reckon if he'd taken a step back when this all came out and resolved to not return as coach until it was sorted he probably would've been given a lot more respect by the wider AFL community.

360 will be excellent tonight. Slobbo's salty tears will be fantastic.

LOL

How transparent is this entire charade? Sure Little, James "offered to stand down." because that's entirely in line with everything we've seen so far.

Quite amazing to see someone get a full payout of their contract after quitting, too. The entire club is full of delusional sycophants.

Oh look, Little AGAIN reiterating the laughably rehearsed company line of Hird triumphantly, courageously and heroically offering to leave the club to "help save the players of the club he loves."

Bucket please!

You can see it? I thought you had to be a member!

Off I go then!

You have to be a member to view their discussion on the ASADA/WADA saga. It doesn't even appear on the threads list unless you are. You may have to be tied to a chair and swear allegiance to James to get a login account.

Hird was a class act to the end. Always put players ahead of himself. Eventually he will be remembered as a Mandela type figure #standbyhird

The delusion is strong with Essendon supporters.

There's some funny stuff on bomberblitz. Calls for an EGM to reinstate him. Hird is apparently doing this so he can *really* get stuck in to the AFL. The delusion is strong.

Stockholm Syndrome.

A few classics I found from Bomberlitz;

Feeling empty at the moment. Somethings gone on behind closed doors.

what a fkn champion of a human being. He is an amazing bloke.

I am kind of relieved for Hird and his family, he can have some quiet family time and get out of the spotlight.

I [censored] love you James.

Style and class. Love you Hirdy.

Hirdy was all class right to the finish...even as the media maggots tried to drag one last headline out of him. And to all of you who are angry/disappointed and talking about not renewing your memberships.....take a deep breath and ask yourselves...is that what Hirdy would want you to do?

Big loss for the club, the way he talked about the players - you could tell he held them together.

James Hird seems like the sort of person with the morals and principles we'd like to see at the club.

This is on the media.

he is leaving with a fk load of dignity.

Well done James

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
