I reckon Viney went straight to Varcoe as Varcoe had just gutlessly shoved Grimes from behind down into the feet of the pack. Probably roughed him up a bit more thanks to the knees

Thats how I saw it as well. Varcoe pushed grimes into the scuffle and Viney didnt like it and let him know. Varcoe wanted to go on with it after it broke up so I assume Viney may have let him know about it during the wrestle.

I thought the Viney tackle at the start of the fourth quarter was even better and I'm pretty sure there was no apology.

Hi Reverend I was thinking of you Saturday as a couple of friends and I knocked over a bottle of JW Black.

Did you partake of a wee dram?

Several drams of Canadian Club Classic 12 Year Old in fact. Sometimes I'm tempted by the colonial interpretations. This one is a particularly smooth and tasty drop.

It was a memorable and satisfying occasion, was it not?

Yes it was.

Sadly I cannot say that one has passed my lips Reverend.

I need a replacement should I buy?

Vanders apologised after that tackle...

F-ing drop him.

Sick of these MFC apologists.

Saw that too. Has Vanders got some insight into who next year's A+ midfield recruit is???

Jeffrey Dahmer apologised, too.

Jones getting stuck into Pendlebury just minutes after the hit he copped from VandenBerg was a bit of a statement and just about the most ruthless thing I've seen from a Melbourne player in a long time.

Loved it. More please.

When we beat teams* it is because we bring a bit of mongrel to the game. Not sniping, Hawthorn mongrel, but hard, 'if you want that ball it'll cost you a couple of bruises mongrel. That's what needs to be consistent. We look so much the better side when the mindset is 'That's our ball you have there, boyo. You'd better give it back if you know what is good for you'.

I love it. Takes me back to the oh so close Northey years.

*except the Bears, who still would have found a way to lose to us even if we forgot to turn up that day.

I would recommend it as an occasional diversion from the single malts.

this is IT uncle; bruises..... plenty of bruises on them, & on Us. put the fear of they're end, into their heads, leave them with plenty of sore points, & no apologies at all !!!

What I was disappointed to see from Vanders upon watching the replay the other day, was that he actually apologised straight away for the tackle on Pendles. I want us to play unsociable, tough footy. Don't apologise, just go them and shake hands later. I like that Jones seemed to sense Pendlebury was sore and went for him.

And we're still yet to have a single suspension for the year. Is this unusual?

It's an absolute disgrace.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
