Ha Ha boo Ryder all you want and fair enough but he kicked 4 goals and his team won. I think Turd got ahead of himself after they beat the hawks in r2 and he was talking about top 4 and how the players deserve it.

Its so important we win tomorrow. We can jump up 2 spots ahead of the bummers and saints.

Nar not a Port fan, but whilst still lamenting the fact we need another "Gun" on baller!

In fact i'll go so far as to say Wines is better, than say ....ah, Jack Viney for example!

Ooops better watch it, I might be guilty of committing Heresy!?

Toump's being hard done by from the selectors. He's clearly improved this year, two poor games put him out of the team but they were preceded by about 4 good ones

Massive game tomorrow for the Dees: A win tomorrow and we move into 13th and then play Collingwood (11th) next week. Sounds pretty sad really talking about ladder positions at the bottom end but we MUST start moving up.

Totally agree......he was showing Salem-like improvement and together with Grimes seem to be under the hammer by the selectors . Maybe there are "not following instructions" issues that are beyond my perception .

Yeah I've felt there must be a lot of that this year. I think Stretch is lucky or must be a big favourite of Roos, I don't think he's doing a lot to keep that spot in the team.

Most annoyingly under Neeld Toump was given all those games when he was genuinely bad.

13th feels like a good accomplishment. It is a big game but even bigger for the Pies as they'll be fierce for a finals spot, as the Roos and Dogs will probably be in our matches after

he doesn't get involved enough - he goes missing for extended periods.

his tackling numbers are also significantly higher at vfl level; once he comes up they drop right off.

and he has epic, epic brainfarts on a regular basis.

but i wish picket would give the highlighting of wines a rest. we all know he's gun. stop reminiscing on the past - focus on the future!

Picket stop being a tool, wines plays for port, has done for three years, might be time to get over it.

if it wasn't for Picket Fence telling us 11 times a week we would never have known Ollie Wines is a gun

Thanks Picket!

Yes, doesn't just fork up incognito.

Has great big "Look a' Moi" fork ups.

Essendon's supporter base must be fast giving up on them... 23,000 is the lowest crowd they have ever attracted to the MCG (by approx 3,000).

It shows you how brilliant our supporter base is and exposes the fair weather supporter bases of these 'bigger' clubs.

Carlton couldn't notch 25,000 fans last night and Essendon struggle to get 23,000 tonight. Carlton won a flag in 1995 and played finals a couple of years ago. Essendon won the flag in 2000 and played in finals recently. Melbourne won the flag in 1964 and last played in a final 9 years ago, having been through the ugliest decade of football in certainly AFL history and rivalling anything witnessed during the VFL era as well. Yet, we still get 25,000 against interstate sides in poor time slots, with poor weather. Makes me proud to be a Demon.

Our supporter base has copped a lot of unfair criticism over the journey, but we are one of the most vocal and steadfast supporter bases in the league, despite being a relatively small one - at least in terms of attendances and membership.

In conclusion, it is great to see Carlton and Essendon in the wilderness. I hope it continues for the next 20 years.

Over the past 2 seasons our attendances have been impressive. Us and Richmond seem to have the best group of supporters. Even the amount of Hawks supporters on Friday night seemed suspiciously low, given their 95,000 members or whatever. Must be bored with winning.

Posted

A huge chunk of Hawthorn's membership is Tasmania-based. The AFL, in their almight wisdom, deemed a Western Sydney club was more lucrative than the few hundred thousand fans down south that were crying out for a team, so the reigning premiers get another injection of cash into their coffers instead.

GWS are a joke wrapped in an orange blanket who keep as shallow into the west of Sydney as possible.

And the Hawks in Launceston is the biggest home ground advantage there is, no one can even get close to them there.

And they've only gotten better as the season's gone on. While the other 'contenders' Sydney and Freo have gone in the opposite direction. I hope the Eagles can knock them off in the West though and the Tigers may get close on Friday night

That was our heartbreaking St Kilda loss and the heartbreaking Essendon loss rolled into one game for Richmond. Lost in the last 30 seconds AND had far more scoring shots (they kicked 6 bloody posters!) for an eerily identical behind count to us.

Had a good chuckle, poor Tiges fans.

The thing I took away from the game was how Fremantle set up after they hit the front with that goal in the last minute.

Immediately, all bar about two or three players were in the defensive half of the ground and play was bottled up for the rest of the game.

So simple, so elementary and yet so difficult for the MFC when we were in that position a little while ago.

Hird is such a bad loser and very poor sport. He said: "I thought Ryder was held for three quarters; I thought he was lucky,"

Hird might think it but it does not need to be said, even if it was true which it wasn't.

I didn't think Hird could sink lower in my estimation. But 'playing the man' like that is disgraceful!

Hird's comments about Ryder

I didn't think Hird could sink lower in my estimation. But 'playing the man' like that is disgraceful!

I was just about to post a similar remark and wonder what motivated him to say that rather than something like the more typical 'yeah, paddy did tear us up at the end - great bloke would have loved to still have him at the Bombers'.

I thought perhaps he was desperately trying to keep his dwindling supporters on-side. Think how happy some of us would be if it was said about a case of MFC v GWS and $cully.

Not sure why you are all so down on Hird he is hardly done by

but just you all wait the truth will be known. You non believers will look silly when all is revealed.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
