This was a typical Roos coached side.

Lions kicked four goals

Think about that before we start hand wringing.

The boys are learning all the time.

A win, which is nice but the skills from both sides were awful! Was like 43 tom mcdonalds and then jesse hogan

Next week provides the best chance in a long time for back to back wins and to climb out of the bottom 4

Not on today's efforts.

Saints won't let us win if we kick one goal after half time.

When you are a Melbourne supporter, any win is a good win! It's only the top handful of teams that have the luxury of an occasional 'bad win'.

Also - how good is Taylor!

The knock is he doesn't really do a whole lot with it. Runs around in cycles and little dinky 20 meter kicks.

Didn't see too much to change my mind today.

A win's a win. Don't see Bombers fans bemoaning their win last week when it was really just our shocking inaccuracy that gave them the 4 points.

Credit where it's due. I'll have to watch the replay to get a better feel for the game, but keeping Brisbane to such a pathetic score (when they looked super impressive against the top sides over the last month) could actually be a credit to our defence. As always, we're continually learning how to balance attack and defence and we're still struggling to get the balance right. For a young team, this is perfectly alright by me.

Here is exhibit A of those posters who are disappointed when we win. So sorry Melbourne decided to disappoint you with the 4 points today mate.

That was the most Paul Roos win we have had since he's been coach.

Probably a good thing. Disciplined down back.

The positive out of this game is that Mums & Dads can tell little Demons that we won a game and can sing the song.

This club needs to take any win it can...Max Gawn laid 2 ripping tackles in that 3rd Quarter...He is becoming a very solid ruckman

In a few years he could be the Beast of the Comp...

1 goal in a half is shocking considering the conditions, but at least that can be worked on with 4 points in the Bank.

Brisbane have absolutely no forward line. I wouldn't be praising our defensive efforts by keeping Brisbane of all teams to a low score.

My only request is that those who blow up at people taking positives from any of the losses, don't have any complaints today. The black or white crew have to be happy.

The rest of us can see we were flawed in the second half today, but adversely, I have seen us play well and lose, and that is footy, especially when you are a poor team on the rise.

I have grave concerns over the future of JKH. I'm just not sure he has the tools.

He doesn't. He hasn't taken a step forward since being drafted.

He probably got a lot of credits in the bank for his NAB debut against Richmond, but can we please remember he's a second year player with 19 games under his belt (and a good chunk of those as sub)?

It's the development of our youngsters that will see them blossom into better players and this takes time.

Not sure if its just me but I noticed the TV cameras seemed a bit wayward today, slow or behind the play, zooming in on the wrong area or shots from to far away....(well i have to pick on something!)

Fox footy - hit or miss.

Today, they showed a replay whilst the game was going on! What the....?

Positives were better games from Howe and Dawes

I think Harmes will be a player.

Cross is a legend. Vanders has been a great get.

Viney has really come on. Garland and Jetta was good.

Gawn is a beauty.

Very unconvinced by JKH and Lamumba.

While HL hasn't been the star we had hoped for, he has been very useful. He spoils his opponents where other Demons would lose the possession and he also has some pace to get us moving forward. Unlike most others, he heads towards our goal when he gets the ball, instead of going backwards and sideways.

While we'd all love a 10goal win full of flawless footy, considering that many posters either had this game down as a loss or were doing the usual nail-biting about being favorites etc, I don't get those who focus on all the bad.

As for a bad game to watch, it was better than some of the trash I've seen on TV the last couple of weeks.

He showed promise at different stages in his debut year. I'm putting it down to second year blues, for now.

Give him another year for development AF. He tried to take the game on a couple of times and was caught out. More through inexperience than anything else I think.

He's still young and has physical development to come. Let's see.

He was never that good. Slow and one dimensional. Unreliable down back and not clean enough. Jamie Bennell 2.0 but without the pace. Only in the side because of Kent.

Take the 4 points only for a bit of confidence against the Saints next week.

1 goal second half against the bottom team is shattering, feels like a loss.

Well done to Hoges & Howey

Beamer and Colin Sylvia at the Chairman's lunch today.

Spoke to Colin, he has done a shoulder and it is all over for this year. Hope to play a few more years in the lower leagues in Melbourne.

Spoke to JT in the lift on the way out and he hopes to be running in about a week and says the foot feels fine. Hopes to be ready for Pre Season and available first game next season.

He is a bit taller than I thought, when you stand next to him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
