Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

I can't hear any watts bashing. We must have won.

The annoying thing is if we held on last week we would be only 1 game out of the 8

we seriously weren't far off beating the pies either.. couldabeen 3 in a row and 6-6 with a very soft draw coming up and some blokes back from injury

now we would need to win 8 or 9 of our last 10 which is pretty much out of the question

oh well, i'll take 10 wins and look to 2016 :D

Now that they're just mediocre, and we've finally stuck one up them, I have a platform for calling out flogs like Selwood, Hawkins, Johnson and Kelly.

Reckon they are the biggest bunch of arrogant farts in the afl Titan.

What comes around goes around.

Oh, and no doubt in my mind; if we had a 'good' 41 secs last week and won - we don't beat the Cats down at Mordor.

Worth repeating.

That was a hard lesson - but thanks to the coaches and leaders we have in place, one that was well learnt.

Also, you could see in the last quarter, gone was that nervousness that comes with not being used to winning or being in a winning situation ... which has cost us the odd game in the recent past. Steely resolve.

Happy that smug [censored] James Kelly, who feigned falling asleep during the club song in a previous win against the Dees, was kept awake in the stands while the Dees rained on the parade of his great mate Enright.

I have never forgotten that,

Finished my first of what will be many, many views of yesterday's game.

While Vince, Jones and Viney were all immense in the midfield, I loved the creativity and class Jack Watts added to the group. I don't think I've seen him as composed in all the time he's been at the club.

Lynden Dunn's influence in the back half was huge. Reminiscent of the Essendon game last year where he was best on ground. Seems to be back to last years form.

Spencer and especially Gawn played their best games for the club. I think Gawn finished with 8 contested marks which is ridiculous by anyone's standard. Both also hit the scoreboard which proved to be important as we lacked a real forward target.

Garlett may prove be the most valuable addition to the team this year. It's great to have a proper small forward again.

Brayshaw is Brayshaw...that is all

ANB and Stretch already look like they've both played 100 games each even though they're yet to play 10 games between them. Stretch excites me when he's given some time to run and carry the football and ANB has potential as a small forward/midfielder (ala Ben McGlynn)

I mentioned it in another thread, but Jeremy Howe's game impressed me despite him not touching the ball in the first half. Seemed like he was launching himself at everything, crashing packs and bringing the ball to ground.

I cannot express how satisfying it is to deliver the final blow to what was Geelong's "golden era". Also a handy time for us to have the bye (I love going into the bye with a win!)

I never thought that what Kelly did there was actually meant to be disrespectful to Melbourne.. he just wanted to do something funny for the camera and went with a bloke dozing while everyone else was going beserk..

what is his position currently? seems to everywhere. Or is that his position? utility?

He seems to have been given license to rotate as a half forward/CHB depending on what is required in the game at the time. He's also rotating through the middle when required, and having an influence on stoppages.

I thought the last few weeks he has been playing as a winger, being used as an outlet but also sliding into the stoppage to create space.

This role gives him the ability to drift forward, but also slide down into the loose man.

His greatest ability is to have time and space and his lateral movement of late has created a lot more of this.

Finally got to unpack some boxes in my new office today. Found my miniature Melbourne desk flag and rather than shoving it into a draw, sat it proudly on my desk.

Had half a dozen congratulations afterwards.

Made today much easier even as I sat through a 3 hour management meeting with a deadly flu.

Nothing quite like a win!

By seeing the players reactions after a win/after his first goal of the last quarter. Seeing how Brayshaw looks up to him and his leadership on the track I don't get how anyone can say he isn't as good leader as another. I don't think anyone could say who is a better leader unless they played in all 18 teams.

Hodge is a leader on the field, doing it in the big games, but Nathan Jones has been the only consistent performer in a poor team for the last 3 years.

That moment summed up everything I hate about Geelong. Their smugness and arrogance knew (and for some, still knows) no bounds, and unfortunately they kept winning and kept winning premierships which made it impossible to criticise them for it.

Now that they're just mediocre, and we've finally stuck one up them, I have a platform for calling out flogs like Selwood, Hawkins, Johnson and Kelly.

Have always had a soft spot for Geelong - their style of play has epitomised Australian rules over the years. On the other hand am enjoying greatly the demise of Essendon and Carlton.

Watching the replay AGAIN...cant get enough!

Have lost count though...of how many times we let Geelong get a centre clearance immediately after we kick a goal...to score an immediate (counter) goal.

They just let all their hard work be undone in a matter of seconds.

First world problems after a win like that...but really stood out.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
