Signed! Christian Petracca extends contract until end of 2018.

When he signs, I will forgive him for turning down the hug I tried to give him in the Ponsford, the pictures on Instagram do not do justice to what we have done to his physique already

Edited for accuracy.

It was one of those websites on Angelfire back in the late 90's - 3D glitter headings, a few links on the side, page hit counter at the bottom. It had all the bells and whistles.

You seem to know all about it Princess, actually it was a Psychology site, defunct now but there is a link that points to Demonland, as per the quote in Fawlty Towers, "there is enough for a whole conference"

So much for the 'rumour' last week that Hawthorn were into him big time. Ha!

What I like about the young brigade signing up beyond Roos' tenure of 2016, is it signals they are confident in and believe in Goodwin as well.

I guess it is possible that another club's interest in him could have precipitated the signing.

I suggest that we have a list with two columns on it .

1/ Sign him up and sign him up now

2/ Wait until seasons end - not sure if required

I would suggest we would talk to all players in the first group regularly about contract extensions the season before and i am sure that Petracca sits fairly and squarely in the first group.

I would like to see him play CHF with Hogen FF.

That would be a force to be recond with over the next 10 years.

Too short for that.

Endeavour and style of play has more influence than height. Watts has the height to play at CHF, but i'd put everything i have on Petracca making it as a CHF compared to Watts.

Lol. Why is Watts being brought into this?

Describes himself as someone that can win a game off his own boot. LOL. Love his confidence.

lol.. hey he was just being honest

...............because he is a 196cm forward. Highlighting that height shouldn't be the main yardstick.

If you needed that pointed out to you, you are beyond help

Err of course it is..but in this day and age we need two twin tall forwards. Petracca shouldn't even be talked or mention in any form of being a CHF. We drafted him to become that explosive classy inside midfield that we severely lack. He will have short burst up forward to start 5 of with but he is a midfielder all the way for me.

I'm curious about ACL's, How much of it is spent in pain/limited movement and how much is precautionary? When Petracca tweets "knee feels good" is he really unable to play for the rest of the season? Could he run at the moment?

Petracca is a midfielder, not a CHF. That's crazy talk.

He'll be training with the main group in 12 weeks but will not be playing at any level until next year.

Should be fully fit for first day of preseason.

I was surprised at how quickly he was off the crutches.

Very exciting news.

The thought of developing Brayshaw and Petracca into potentially A-grade AFL midfielders is pretty nice.

They've both got that self-drive, they're extremely competitive and clearly they're talented. They're all really important base attributes.

Our club environment is better than it's ever been in regards to being able to nurture and develop talent. We've got the right coaches, much better leaders and clearly our standards in every area have gone up.

I think luck is what we need. We need Petracca and Brayshaw to have a clean run at it. No more serious injuries to our young players please.

Is there some contract where the most exciting new talent we have has to injure themselves for a season?

Our rehab room is always the most talented in the comp.

Fkn over it.

I am going to speak to the voodoo man and get all this negative shyte switched to Hawthorn for a few decades.

new replacement tendon from hamstring muscle = weakens that hamstring

bone starts growing/healing in around 2 weeks time, but is like butter>lead (softness). after 3 months the bone has knitted together but is still fragile for heavy contacts, & repetitive pounding on pavements.

the new Ligament attachments IMO would have little tensile strength at this point, but the new bone growth would have more compressive strength @ 3 months... the tensile strength I imagine would take much longer to occur. 12 months getting closer to the mark.

the Hamstring Muscle; minus a chunk of sinews taken to be the new ACL Ligament, seems to take quite some time to get back to original condition.

there is no way I would bring the kid back at his age to play any footy games this season. simply no reason or value to rush him. but a lot of risk.

maybe when he comes back around the 2016 'Nab Cup' time, I'd hope he doesn't play any senior footy until after playing about 6 - 8 games in the Casey development side, of reduced game time, allowing a further 2 months (Feb-March), under reduced match time & physical pressure to allow his body time to make any strengthening adjustments that his body recognises as needing further strengthening. His body will adjust itself if given enough time under load to respond.

I hope he doesn't come back til at least April.
