Disagree. We don't know everything about selection and what the coaches are looking for in a game. Disposals only tell one side of the story. Michie may have been given a task during the game that he didn't fulfill and, therefore, misses out for someone like Toumpas who the coaches feel is now more deserving of a game.

Roos wants to set a standard and, for one reason or the other, Michie didn't reach that standard.

Agreed. I think he is suited to playing against the Swans in the wet too. More so than Toumpas or Stretch, I would have thought.

Im happy for the likes of Spencer Toump and Stretch getting games but Viv and Grimes are very very stiff. The McKenzie treatment, i'm sorry to say has been very poor from our coaches.

Some career enders in that selection. Jamar did try hard last week but if Spencer does the business I reckon he's done. Why? Spencer is bigger. He is an excellent tackler. His marking and kicking ability is at least equal to Jamar's. He has developed some serious mongrel and therefore will cause some opposition players a nasty moment.

He might be your cousin or whatever but you're clearly letting your bias see passed his limitations. He's slow, doesn't run, doesn't use the ball well and played a whole game without laying a tackle which is inexcusable for his role.

If he wants to stay in the team tell him to get his intensity up.

The likes of Brayshaw and vandenBerg show the way. Viv's got a lot of talent but besides from slogging it out in the rain he's just never looked quick or desperate enough.

Agree wholeheartedly, there were a few poor defensive efforts from Michie.

Does anyone else get the feeling that these are career defining changes. McKenzie and unfortunately Grimes I cannot see them being at the club next year now.

And I think its a fair chance Jamar will retire at years end.

Jamar doesn't do enough. In the ruck he knocks to his feet and no advantage for us. He doesn't kick much and last week k he handballed 20m back to a Freo player and resultant goal. He should retire at the end of the year. Mckenzie is a woeful kick and must go. I hope Grimes comes back though.

No two ways about it watts very lucky to be in team. 3 average games and in the last of them only 7 possessions. I thought his intesity was pretty good though, both in the air and tackling. I suspect that's what saved him. Huge week for him. If he doesn't perform could have an extended run at casey

Not amazing. But who would you rather. I might've kept Grimes in and left Lumumba on a wing but it's much of a muchness .

Roos always promised if a player knocked the door down at Casey he would be rewarded even at the expense of a regular player. Spencer is a good example of that commitment- well done to him.

The ins show us that we are interested in making the team faster in the longer term.

Fremantle won clearances with their size, and scored against us (early on when we were in the contest) with their speed. We are addressing the size, but we are also trying to improve the speed. Bringing in Stretch as early as they have is obviously because the players we have been playing have not been playing that hard running outside role well enough.

Spencer comes in because you simply can't leave him out. If you want to promote people who are knocking on the door, then Spencer has knocked on the door, smashed it down and fashioned the splinters into a spear with which to impale Jamar. Big, strong, aggressive and applies excellent pressure all over the ground.

Michie was a tad unlucky as he did very well the week before - might have been worth another go as the sub but those are the breaks.

Roos has certainly sent a message - Jamar may be rested though and this gives him a chance to look at Spencer. We needed to give our back-up ruckmen some chances at some stage so why not now?

Against these top sides I don't see any problem with a bit of experimentation so the promotion of Stretch and Toumpas gives both those lads an opportunity.

The whole McKenzie decision is a bit of a head scratcher but as 'titan' said, it might have just been an initial mistake at the selection table - or as someone else indicated, the original plan might have just gone astray.

A little tough on Grimes too but Roos is obviously looking for an impact from our depth players ... other depth players who get their chance in the future will need to take their chances by the looks of it.

Im not sure probably would have left Viv in or brought in Pig Dog in the wet. Haven't been impressed by Toumpas yet hoping he can prove me wrong.

Very surprised at Jamar. I'm ok with Spence in the ruck but he has been a liability around the ground. I hope he's improved because we can certainly do with his aggression and size.

I get the feeling Michie was more from a defensive point of view. Still think he's learning to play both sides of the game.

Seems to me that Roos is all about impacting the game in some way.

Jamar - Surprised that he was dropped, but Spencer was BOG for mine at Casey last week, and he and Jamar can't play in the same team.

Grimes - Anyone who thought that he played well against Freo are kidding themselves. For starters, it's a 2 way game, and he provided nothing offensively, and didn't play on Ballantyne for most of the game, as many are suggesting.

Michie - If you didn't look at the stats, you hardly notice him because he rarely hurts the opposition when he has the ball. He's also slow across the ground. Riley doesn't offer much more than Michie, which is why he wasn't selected.

McKenzie - Possible the most mind boggling selection in years.

Toumpas - His 1st half against the Bombers last week was the most impressive display I've seen from him. Every disposal was spot on, and for the first time, he actually seemed to know what he wanted to do with the ball before he got it. Not sure why he went missing in the 2nd half.

Stretch - Probably start as sub, but he has a quick burst of speed that will hopefully allow our inside mids an outlet at clearances.

Watch last week and tell me what Grimes'opponent did. SFA is the answer. He is very stiff.

Really, if the coaching staff is serious about this year, Watts should have been dropped before Grimes or Jamar. I wonder what this does to team morale?
