They've just suspended Bennell, Matera and McKenzie for boozing it up.

They're having a laugh up there, and I reckon we're more likely to grab some of their talent than GWS'.

Not wanting to turn this into another JW thread, but he could go up there to get out of the bright spotlight of Melbourne.

And Bennell could use a club with a better culture.

If we could snare Bennell, that would be a major plus... he's had a bit of an ordinary year so far, but I still think that on his day he is one of the more dangerous players in the comp.

Trent Mckenzie, Charlie Dixon and Brandon matera would be good, straight swap for jack watts and a pack of skittles?

Posted

Bennell is lazy, he will end his career a half talent.

Perfect swap then.

Maybe they are all missing what Karmichael Hunt brought to the table!

Cocaine?

He was anything but lazy on the weekend, a heap of gut running in a close-to BOG performance. He is almost the perfect compliment to our midfield mix.

Bennell doesn't need a club with a better culture, he needs a better attitude

Not sure if inheriting players from a troubled culture is a recipe for success.

Disgruntled players fed up with their undisciplined teammates, however...

Thats right!

Who did Bennell Vomit on? :o

I wouldn't take Bennell. He has all the talent in the world, but I suspect he is only just hanging in there.

Gold Coast taken a BIG risk by drafting him, and I think he is doing a good job to hold it together.

I thought he'd be home by now.

McKenzie would be a good target for us.

Let's raid the Gold Coast? Count me in, I need a holiday. Which pub do we start with?

do you think you could pass as a Schoolie?

Bennell will probably head back to Perth.

Remember it was Hunt that helped settle him at GC when he was homesick. He is a massive talent but in danger of not realising it.

Lock in Mckenzie as a target. Would come close to being the best kick in our team if we picked him up. Rate him highly.

I realise his shoulder is a bit iffy but I wouldn't mind having Ablett.

Seriously though, Rodney Eade must be wondering how this has all gone [censored]-up.

Posted

They've got a lot of talent but there appear to be significant cultural issues at the moment. Eade has made comments about how the players seem to think they're the greatest bunch of players to ever grace the field and that wins will just happen for them. That's the last kind of attitude a player at Melbourne could afford to have.

Steer clear of Bennell

Targets from the Suns IMO

Dixon and Prestia,

and of course O'Meara but no chance

Not sure about Dixon. We're OK for big forwards but still 4-5 good mids short. Yes to prestia. No to benell

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
