Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan

Here it is folks! Congratulations! After being lauded as the greatest thing in a generation to come to the MFC, 11 games in Jesse Hogan has offcially received 'whipping boy' status. Following the trend of Sylvia, McLean, Morton, Watts, Trengove, Scully, Toumpas and more, Hogan is now apparently worthy of becoming the punching bag for supporters upset after a loss. Well done lads! Can't wait to see who is next, must be Brayshaw, followed by Petracca.

Extreme hyperbole is a sport now?

Sorry but who here is punching on the kid?

Nobody here said anything about him having a bad game and being a bad player

His attitude today was worrying, didn't chase, dropped his head, poor second efforts.

Sometimes delivery to him will be poor, that's how it goes. He needs to learn to deal with it.

As much as Dawes is pretty ordinary, at least his attitude is first grade. He always holds his head up and tries to lead.

Hogan needs to follow his lead in that respect

I'm all for calling a spade a spade

Its just horrendous how quickly the knives come out around here

Maybe I am just more shattered by the fact that situation has been created in order for you backstabbers to come out so quickly

Maybe it is the case that we as a club are completely and utterly incapable of taking the brightest talent and developing them

History certainly shapes us that way

I think we all know he can play, but today was a learning curve for him. Delivery was so bad, that at times it seemed to me that he was confused as to what he was supposed to do to rectify things and make a contribution. Maybe this led into a drop in confidence and I addition Max falling all over him must have made it a fairly ordinary day for him. Coaches will work through it with him.

Hope that at some time during the week he says stuff it, that's not going to happen again. I think he's got the talent and constitution to deal with today and drag a few positives out of it.

A lot of his game today was influenced by his team mates IMO and not in a positive way.

Oh a first year tall forward how a bad day in slippery conditions with team mates bombing the ball to horrible spots all day? What a friggin shock.

I think people are referring to Hogan's attitude, more than his ability to impact the contest. But to an extent I agree. He's still gonna be a beauty, but this prima dona stuff has to be looked at. Particularly, if it's going to impact on his ability to chase and work like say Jeff Garlett (9 tackles and most on the ground today).

Tough crowd. First bad game of his career. He's a competitive lad, don't reckon anyone will be more filthy than himself.

Nothing to see here.

Not sure about that. I think he was worse last week. But there's always a caveat. As above, he's a first year key forward.

The ball is just being bombed in like a bag of [censored]. Delivery has been poor the last 4-5 weeks if not longer.

The delivery to him against St Kilda was very good. He had two from Jones on a plate, very early. He did kick 5 goals, so obviously, when we clean up our delivery to him, he will really start to impact games. He still needs to bring that forward pressure though.

Consistent attitude and effort is all part of the learning process.

He'll learn from today.

Hogan shouldn't be immune from criticism.

However, it should be put in perspective.

If you're going to have a go at Hogan, you should also be having a go at the senior players yet again not playing well (how many of Dawes, Cross, Vince, Jones, Dunn, Garland, Lumumba and Howe played good games today?).

FWIW Hogan acted 'sulkily' far too much for my liking today. He is going to get beaten every now and again in his career; Hurley's in AA form, Hogan's not the first forward he's had the better of. But I didn't like how Hogan didn't really look to put in second efforts today, which is something he's done this year quite well.

Bad game, but not even close to a concern, let alone one of the more serious concerns.

Criticism should be directed at the blokes who just bombed the ball in, hacked it on their boot and hoped for the best.

Poor Jesse Hogan. I'd direct anger towards the midfield, and to a lesser extent the coaches box for letting it happen for 4 quarters.

4 quarters ....?

Happens every game.

And the captain's one of the worst offenders.

They just don't lower their eyes, Jones never really has. Vince certainly doesn't.

I understand it was a slippery day, but too often when they had space they just bombed it in.

The midfield might've had reasonably good stats, but it is a day they'd rather forget IMO.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
