We've "improved". It just hasn't amounted to much.

Ahh this is poignant. It's how I arrive at a much earlier post...alas

No...didnt expect us to win a flag yet.  Just about all to a tee expected us to start knocking on the door by years end. We seem again caught in a revolving door .....i.e in out in out.. chasing it all about going no where.

We ended 15  as 13th with 7 wins.. Its quite possible this year we may end up 14th.

Just doesnt strike me as much of an achievement . Makes a mockery of of the talk and bullshlt that still surrounds this club.

I thought 10 wins a bare pass.  8 or 9 is a fail

Our game day ability to adapt to other teams is woeful. We still lack any real leadership on the field..what happens off filed is all nicey nicey  but where it counts is  once past the white line.

We're still a club of excuses.

As OD has mentioned Jackson's verve for seeking finals this year has gone to ground.

So many here still aspire to mediocre results..  Maybe more than a handful wearing the jumper do as well.

Russell yo yos ought to be our primary sponsor...

Just wanted to quote this, so everyone would be forced to read it again.

what that has to do with prestia i have zero idea.

his skills would be a mighty handy addition to our gladbag of turnover merchants, as would his ability to break lines.

Actually, nothing . Mea culpa , just way thread went.

I actually do not see the need for Prestia (1) cost too much (20)  nothing to trade and is best to keep picks for a CHF,CHB. Salem will become a mid once the drug cheat (easy name to remember)  starts playing for the Dees. The possibility of picking up another d.c as a third or fourth rounder plus a player may not be bad however the d.cs could be r.s in the head.,

Prestia isn't coming guys. Wants $700k and we aint paying.

Richmond and Gold Coast only ones willing to pay it.

I, for one, look forward to watching Richmond further compromise their 16-22 by overpaying for a B+.

Have you heard anything about who might be coming to AAMI Park?

I thought I wanted Prestia at the right price, but honestly found this to be comforting news. I'm not keen to hitch our star (salary-wise at least) to an injury riddled star, when it's still unclear if he'll ever be able reach his former heights.

Plus you would think Prestia knows that his future isn't guaranteed, so he's looking for a big pay day in case it doesn't work out.

I'm sure we've got our eye on other players out there.

I'm sure we do have our eyes on may players atm however when trading begins you never know what is thrown around between clubs. It's early days yet. As far as Prestia goes I read somewhere that his knee is in great shape it was a clean up of scar tissue which is not uncommon after an operation.

I will add to this that i have heard Richmond are seriously considering offering up pick 6 for Prestia and they're hoping something else

Richmond never learns, do they?

Pick 6 for a good player with a history of injuries.

I smell another era of finishing ninth for Richmond!

Any clues as to what that something else might be?

In your opinion Praha, is Dion now committed to Prestia?

Oh humour, well I think it was

I actually have the social skills to get out from behind my keyboard and talk to people face to face   you want to try it sometime, that's if your mum will let you out

Wins are good, if we are good enough we will get them

If you're social skills in the real world are anything like your social skills here, I think the only reason you're allowed to talk to the players is because it is too expensive and inconvenient to move the whole club's training sessions each week to a secret location that you don't know about.

Need to use that dough to pay the Prestias who are already on our list.

I'd say a later pick Chaser, i don't think it'll be much at all, the Suns rate Prestia as worthy of a top 12 pick, and the Tigers think he is worth sort of the 10-15 mark so i'd say it'll be say 6-Prestia and a 3rd rounder or fringe player who probably wouldn't get much of a run

When this deal is done (assuming the Suns get pick 6 off the Tigers )

they'll go into the draft with 3 top 10 picks, and if O'meara leaves i'd assume they'll get something significant for him as well

And don't they need it! Only 5-6 years old and already rebuilding

I quite like where they're placed to be honest,

I see May and Lynch as two of the best young key position players in the comp

Rory Thompson is a handy second tall defender, Wright and Day are more than handy forwards

Martin, Sexton, Lonergan and co though the middle, and some top end talent coming through the draft and i reckon they'll be okay in 2 years time

Jeez took you a while to find this, I lower my social skills to a median level to cater for all posters on here

i wouldn't mind dion, at the right price (and he gets a clear medical)

don't forget chunk will be 29 and vince 31 at the start of next season and we need to plan for their replacements sometime not too far off, we're not going to have a low enough pick to draft a good young midfielder to be ready in time so a ready-made one is compelling

Crouch off the want list guys, has re-signed with the Crows.

Bugger. Just as I was coming to terms with not getting Prestia, Crouch is also off the table. There's really very little on offer then. Unless we pull someone out of the hat (ie someone who is contracted elsewhere).

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
