No, we traded our 2017 pick to GCS back in 2016.
You can only trade one year ahead as a maximum.

I suspect you mean that we traded our 2016 first round pick to GCS back in 2015?

We still have our 2017 first round pick as far as I am aware.

Yes, I did.
Trying to do too many things at once.

Was there a 2018 being mentioned in there somewhere too?

Any doubters re Prestia just watch his game today vs the Saints. 11 touches in the first quarter.

Will look great in a Melbourne jumper. Gawn, Viney, Prestia and Tyson, with support from Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw, Jones and Vince. Add an Andrew Gaff type and that's an A grade midfield.

Oh no, we are going to have 10 pages arguing about what an A grade midfield is.

I'm impressed with how well he chucked the "add an Andrew Gaff type" into the discussion as well, as if they grow on trees.  We haven't even gotten Prestia yet.

Prestia is clearly ours, as when interviewed after the game he said it was hot up there.

According to Jay Clark in the HS this morning Richmond are the clear leaders for Dion. We're obviously not privy to something or Jay is talking out of his ass.

Or we have gone cold on Prestia due to years of trying to pusure him over only to be knocked back time and time again.

O' Meara, Crouch and even Jack Steele could be the other midfielders we might chase instead.

You make it sound as if Demonland is "privy to something".

My post is only speculation, but If I had to put a wager on it, I would almost guarantee that Prestia will land at Richmond. My points below:

  • Richmond will have a clear cut round 1 draft pick to offer Gold Coast. This would be of more value in this years highly rated pool than to risk it for a future first round pick from us, especially when we are on the continual rise
  • Gone are the days of Melbourne paying overs for a player
  • The amount of money Prestia and his manager could squeeze out of Richmond would be way above what we would be willing to pay. Richmond are known for just throwing the cheque book at players to land a quality player. And with them missing out on players like Hartlett and Treloar they will do and will pay whatever it takes to secure a player like Prestia to try and recover any reputation they lost with previous players turning them down and either signing on at a different club
  • I get that Prestia has a family tie and bond to Melbourne and he would have a much more greater chance in having success at the Dees, however that pay difference between us and Richmond I feel would be too much to gamble for Prestia
  • We have more of a demand in a key position backman than we do Prestia

And what if we offer less? What's to say he won't chose us? If he wants to get to Melbourne, he will.

Can anyone honestly name a time when Jay Clark has had good "mail"?

He's a pretender.

If we need to land a big fish then it needs to be a key position player. No offence to Prestia but we have greater needs than another high priced mid.

  • We have a 2017 first round pick to offer GC. Trading future picks is always a gamble.
  • How do you know he wants overs? Know his manager? With Dawes to take a massive cut and others who have been front loaded we might have enough money to pay him what he's worth, which might be what he's after. Chip left for less than market value for success, as did Howe (haha!). It happens. Case by case.
  • Your speculation on what his manager could "squeeze out of Richmond" is without any intel or knowledge of their list. Might've well given us your guess of next week's tattslotto numbers.
  • His family bond wouldn't be as importance as any player's desire for team success, in which case Richmond are zero chance
  • We are far more in need of high quality mids to take the pressure off our back 6 from the ball coming in fast to opp forwards. Give me 2 new A grade mids and IMO we have a finals bound team. Sure I wouldn't say no to a guy like Hurley, but Prestia is a no brainer. He would be in our best 2 mids next year.

i spoke to a Bomber supporter who said Hibbert and Hurley were going nowhere.

He was best mates with Hibberts brother apparently.

So if we are building a premiership team it could be with a no name backline such as Ted Richards,Leo Barry,Roberts-Thomsom (to mention some no-names).

Which means we will get Prestia at around his market value I reckon.

I say we will get him and Tyson may find himself looking for a spot.

It wouldn't be like a bombers supporter to spin a load of bs, hey Biff?

Noooooo, never.

These are my favourite parts to read when reading these kinds of posts.

Well there you go.. Called it last week too! Wouldn't be surprised if we have our eyes in Crouch or O Meara... Both have higher ceiling then Prestia..

Reported on 7 news that we aren't interested in prestia we are chasing defenders hiberd in particular

So much of our plan is going to come down to if we have to trade for Bombers players or not, we simply won't be able to land anyone else if Hibberd and Hurley decide to come and we have to trade for them.

if they're  DFA we will have the option of looking at other players we might be able to bring in.

I suspect we will have to trade for Essendon players to get them over the line.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
