We just need good footballers all over the ground, so while you'd like him to be 6 ft 2" we can't be picky with a 23 year old that averages 25+ possessions a game.

It's also worth noting that if we don't use our first pick on Prestia (I give us no chance of landing Treloar) we will use the pick on Darcy Parish who's about 178cm.

I think things are too bleak now for the MFC to wait another 2 years for an 18 year old to develop, so a proven 23 year old makes more sense.

Apparently Trent McKenzie and Brandon Matera will be very gettable this year as well.

What about pick 4 and Howe for Prestia and McKenzie? I know he's stagnated the last couple of years but he is an elite kick and was exceptional in his first year or two. Doesn't fill our midfield void but would certainly fill our skillful half back void.

For all the skeptics on here, keep skeptical. I on the other hand sway on the side of optimism for this trade to happen. I question as to why this trade is not possible?

It can't be because of past trends as fellow demonlanders rarely seem to get early trade opinions right so why not this.

It's reported that he is keen to get back to Melbourne (Victoria I should say). Gold Coast (as a club) are under the spotlight and with all due respect, are very ordinary without the messiah and are likely to lose players to the go home factor (there seems to be more light at the end of the tunnel for GWS than GC). He and his family are Red and Blue through. It breathes all the possibilities of something realistic.

Now here's to hoping though if this was to occur, lets stop and think for a moment that if Dee-on was traded to Melbourne (for whatever it took, say a Howe or whoever + pick), our midfield would next year basically then see the additions of Dee-on, Trengove and Petracca. Not a bad nett gain to our starting 22 considering our current plight.

Fingers crossed

I suspect this is right, & I'm of the opinion that the Eade to GCS is AFL (endorsed), & supported to sort out the mess they knew of prior to most media outlets.

i reckon the development coach has seen the issues first hand, & has spent this season testing & sorting players, to see who to keep re rebuilding the culture up there.

........... they will surely loser some they don't want to, but rebuilding a sick culture requires a lot of changes of personnel, to underpin/reinforce the new changes to that culture.

they are in some pain for sure.

so SWYL, do you still think GWS are right-offs & a wasteland ; & a waste of space, or has Sheed's methods, & Jnr's honest hard work paying off ?

He reminds me a lot Viney in the way he attacks the pill but just has that extra polish. Would adore him at the dees as you can never have enough of there type.

After having a quick look at footywire to get our heights and coming to realisation that Prestia's a midget, I noticed we still have some decent height around the pill when including flankers like Vanders, Watts & potentially Petracca.

There are some decent sized lads there.

Watts 196

Vandemon 188

Angus 187

Vince 186

Dom 186

Petracca 186

Trenners 185

Jones 180

Stretch 180

Viney 178

Prestia 175

Prestia and Viney are on the shorter side, but the way they go about playing footy makes it pretty much irrelevant.. these blokes aren't in footy sides for their contested overhead marking abilities. Brent Harvey at 172 cm goes alright for 400 games, a flag, 5 best and fairests and 4 All-Australian guernsies.

Noooooooo. He will give us some cryptic clue that will take us until trade period to work out any way. :)

When blue and yellow turn green what does it mean?

A. F*** All

B. Dion will be a Demon

Prestia's is a ball of muscle. He may be 175cm tall but he has fantastic speed, skill, polish and awareness. Would be close to our no 1 mid if he came to us.

Come home son, all is forgiven!

sounds great to me

i haven't personally watched a lot of dion. seen some highlights and stats etc but not a lot

how damaging or creative a player is he? who does he best compare to?

On the run he can clear 60 metres pretty easily, generally hits his short targets, and Prestia has excellent agility in traffic. Not uncommon for him to dance out of trouble and burst out of a pack. He's got very good burst speed.

Very strong in the upper body and wins a lot of inside ball, his clearance work is excellent.

I can't think of any contemporary comparisons, parts of his game remind me of Daniel Kerr, his burst from congestion is a little reminiscent of what Rodan used to do at his peak.

Howe and pick 4 for Prestia and pick 37 would be a fair swap IMO.

I'd do that deal. Probably the closest we will get to being fair for both clubs.

Just wait for the usual deals suggest on here that include any of Fitzy/Terlich/Riley/Bail etc as if they have some sort trade value. Those guys are worth next to nothing and won't be the decider in a deal for someone like Prestia.

Things are looking up for next year.

Prestia

Dangerfield

Treloar

Aish

Omeara

I reckon with these blokes on board, we might push for 8 wins next year.

It would be a good result to land ANY of those players.

Dangerfield is the ideal type, we need an elite mid. Wouldn't have to trade for him, perfect.

Pick 4 by itself should be enough for Prestia but GC will obviously play hard ball. If Howe's leaving I'd like to keep him separate to any potential Prestia deal.

Would Prestia be GCSs best mid apart from GAJ? Our first pick might not be enough

Prestia is their best clearance player and he can play admirably on a wing, off half-back and at times as a forward. He is the complete package.

I wouldn't take pick 4 by itself if I was GC.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
