Meh. 1 game. Hawks were almost playing there box hill team.

I think Chip will be in for a good year.

I hope he knows their names, he will by the end of the year on last nights effort.

I dont begrudge chip for leaving. He hung around for 7 years during a crap time and has now gone to a club where he will play finals and possibly a premiership which I believe is what players play football for. Yes I was disappointed that he chose not to hang around but at least he wasnt a scully and ditch us after 2 seasons. But it will be interesting to see how he goes r1 against geelong where hawkins has given him trouble. Also he may find things a bit tougher he is part of a standout team that rarely lose. The pressure will be greater.

Bulldogs fans were annoyed when Lake left but do you tink he cares. He now has 2 flags. Yep look what happened to the dogs over that 2 year period. They lost there coach, had 2 disappointing seasons and lost there captain and a brownlow medalist. Im just saying I understand why players leave.

Frawley overrated - pick 3 (Brayshaw)

Excuse me while I crack a stubbie.

Just one more to come to complete the picture!

at least we can thank Frawley's manager for somehow negotiating with the Hawks to line up a contract that pushed us into top-tier compensation status. I'd like to shake that guy's hand.

I don't think Brian Lake's first game at Hawthorn set the world on fire but he now has 2 premiership medals.....

I don't think Buddy's first game with the swans was world beating either....And there has been many others who haven't stared in their first games.

I don't get the glee of some posters have because Chip played badly in his first game with the Hawks.

Yeah but Gysberts first game for us was a belter.

Chip was a good player for us, especially early on, but seemed to lose interest in the last few years, where his form really tapered off. There were games where he annoyed the hell out of me.

To me his big flaw was disposal and decision making.

I don't think he will improve on disposal, but he may on decision making. If he doesn't, he won't play a lot of senior footy with the Hawks.

Last night was only a NAB Cup game but he was very poor. He will improve, hopefully not enough for us to regret his leaving.

Me, I am looking forward to seeing Brayshaw play.

Yep. He is still a very good defender with his strength and closing speed and will still shut out some very good forwards. On that note he will be pretty handy for the Hawks.

But with the emphasis on possession retention in the modern game and building from the back, especially so in the case of the Hawks' precision game style, it will be interesting to see how Frawley fits in in this respect.

If he racks up Josh Gibson level statistics then there are going to be a fair few errors in the back half for the Hawks.

It's bad enough that we have to have a thread once again dedicated to putting the boot into a player who is no longer a part of our club... but then to have it somehow morph into yet another put the boot into Watts thread? Spare me.

He wont be missed one little bit.

Our backlkine didn't miss a beat without him last season. Hell it probably functioned even better.

And I still haven't forgiven him for the pathetic effort at the end of the Bulldogs game last season where he had two easy chances to kill the ball and failed, leaving Bontempelli to kick the winning goal.

Sam Frost will have a better season.

I lost faith after 186. His body language was the worst of anyone else on the field that day.

I thought the NAB was a place to put your credentials on show and at a base level, play your role and perform with the hope of getting a spot in the 22 come round 1.

Frawley clearly didn't achieve that last night.

His best football is past him and to be perfectly frank, he occasionally looked good in a very shitty team and don't get me started about All Australian selection because that's debatable for almost the entire team. He had a good year, no doubt but his performances last year were pitiful for an experienced defender.

I don't think he'll have a good year at the Hawks and will crumble under the pressure of being the 'big-name' free agent.

No, it's shot because you judge his season by one nab cup match.

haha, you wood duck, I said "if tonight is anything to go by", just after I stated I think he will do well at Hawthorn, so not sure where I judged his season. I hate lowering myself to argue with dills like yourself, so you win.

Frawley has closing speed ??????????????? Did you see him run down last night by the so-so/nondescript Hawks fwd players. He fumbled consistently, he lost touch/feel with his opponent and his delivery ????? He has done a pre season like the other Hawks and his skills are embarrassingly non existent. No excuse for a performance like that. He will be well paid for his "efforts".

As for that traitor that went to the Cats...........................IDGAF !

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
