Incidentally, what is an AFL coach doing overseas at this time of the year?

Checking out foreign drug cultures? Who knows

Posted

Getting in as much overseas travel as he can before many countries won't actually let him enter?

It's not exactly easy to get a VISA if you're a convicted criminal. Unsure of the legal implications for Hird if he's infracted for a mass sports doping program.

Rumour has it that Hird is in Pyongyang visiting Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un for advice as to what action he will take next. Apparently, Little established good relations with him when he was running his previous business.

I would not be surprised if Hird still has enough grip around the clubs short and curlies to get them to pay his legal fees.

I thought he was invited by the Dear One to help beef up his pissweak soccer team.

Finally a question on channel7 news to father Tim on the blow to James Hird

This is nether a negative to the players or James or a positive for ASADA says Tim

Makes you wonder why Hird bothered then?

and how it would have been reported if he had won

Watson is delusional if he actually believes that.

Not negative for the players or hird... I wonder it Mr hirds bank balance agrees with Tim on this one, very expensive if it indeed means nothing.

The issue wasn't even included as a news item and was only mentioned as a throw away line from Mitch

Has been listed for the project on 10 and no mention on 9

Waiting to see how channel 2 features it

What a Joke

Essendon is like the set for "The Stepford Wives"

They are all blank & Delusional...

on channel 9 news hird's lawyers said they are considering a high court appeal

when asked if they had spoken to their client they said no

I might be wrong but I don't think birds appeal suppressed any evidence to the drug tribunal

I didn't say it did. If Hird had won his appeal, his hope was that ASADA would have had to start again and he and the players would then have been able to refuse to provide evidence.

Ch 9 also interviewed some Essendon supporter on the steps outside the court.

Said that she had been to every day of the appeal (poor soul). Bemoaned the injustice of it all. Said the players, the club and Hird had done nothing wrong and were innocent.

After watching every day in court she obviously didn't realise the proceedings had nothing to do with whether the players, the club or Hird had done anything wrong.

Sad really.

Geez, no doubt the lawyers are considering a high court appeal. The longer they keep this farce in the courts, the sooner they can retire.

What really amazes me is that Hird's away on holiday again. To my reckoning, this is the third time he's travelled overseas since returning from his year-long, member-funded sojourn in France (including missing at least part of trade week!). The extent to which he puts his own interests before those of the club is just staggering, and he doesn't even make any attempt to pretend otherwise.Quite apart from anything else he might have done, this should have the EFC members baying for blood. Hird must really have the club by the short and curlies in some way, because I ccouln''t imagine any other coach in the league getting away with such a blatant disdain for his basic duties to the team.

For those who might be interested ~ Judgment.

and ... If he's thinking about appealing ~

Leave to appeal to the High Court

In order for Jimmy to get special leave to appeal the decision to the High Court, his legal team needs to convice two High Court judges that today's decision raised questions of law of public importance and that the interests of justice require the appeal to be heard i.e the "vibe" ain't enough.

FWIW I reckon Hird will have to fight tooth and nail to keep his job now just to cover his legal bills So you would hope EFC Board have a backup plan or else they will be paying his legal bills for them.

Becoming a bit overlooked in this saga. They used it to gain an advantage. If it was legal, fair enough. If it wasn't, 2 years each. Duped or not.

AGREED. Lets not forget that Essendon were an average team in 2011, the won 8 out then first 9 in 2012 before having a run of soft tissue injuries. Definitely trying to get an unfair advantage. We don't want sport to be won by those with the best drugs.

I will never forget that year especially Round 10 when we handed Essendon their second loss of the season.

Yeah but don't forget MEGA successful coaches Neil Craig and Mark Neeld will have everything under control as each player is "Training the house down"

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
