There's only one currency in play here as far as I can tell, and that's notionally 'time' !! Yes it's costing EFC a motza but they seem to be getting some back off of their insurers, god knows how. They dont care about the money. The typical EFC devotee is that stupid they're coughing up fighting money. It truly boggles the mind.

EFC know they will have to rebuild thoroughly in a couple of years but if they can squeak though in the meantime it is , to them, a win. This is what infuriates me about the whole thing, the utter contempt with which they have not only initiated this debacle but deign to continue it as a farce. WADA needs to find the biggest stick it can grab and get practicing swinging it.

Essendon not only need to be punished but ought to be made an example of.

I wouldn't be so sure about this. Their crimes if found guilty in my view would be very unlikely to be covered by insurance. It is early days, but after a guilty verdict by WADA etc they will be left with no friends and most insurance claims will be null and void. Then there are the law suits: if they are guilty there is no insurance cover which I am aware of which covers criminal activity, and this will be criminal activity

Agreed. And ah, the parochialism of it all. I don't know that anyone at Essendon, from the bigwigs down through to the supporters, have any sense of just how small a pond they're swimming in. WADA know that outside of Melbourne/Australia, all that anyone's interested in here is that the process is followed and that if there has been an infraction, that appropriate penalties are applied.

No-one sitting in Lausanne or Montreal knows who James Hird or Jobe Watson are. Or cares.

Technically they are already suspended as they have been given infraction notices

But 2 of them played v ireland

Following these proceedings though, it is very likely there will be a Worksafe investigation into workpractices at ESSENDON under HIRD which could very likely result in severe penalties for those involved in admin including HIRD

I'd restate investigation into work practices under "Hird" to those charged with Governance, e.g. The Board and to an extent the CEO.

While Hird no doubt had a key role in the program such a gross failure to protect the players wellbeing goes directly to the function of the Board.

If this investigation hasn't already been going on for two years then something is very rotten in the State of Denmark. The Doctors and Directors should have the book thrown at them. Fined heavily if not incarceration. I wld go to jail if I 'forced' one of my workers to take injections not approved for human use. WTF are they waiting for???
