WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ALEX NEAL-BULLEN

Featured Replies

I have a feeling that this bloke will get some senior game time this year [and/or feature in the B&F at Casey].

N- B reads like a Sam Mitchell type. Bring him on!

This will be the pick where our recruiting department earn their money.

If ANB (and/or McDonald) turns out a player, it will be a huge coup for us.

I found this segment from the article interesting: No stand-out traits: Although Neal-Bullen is sound in all facets of the game and he has no glaring weaknesses, he also has no outstanding strengths to his game that will put him a level above in the AFL. His clearance work comes close, but as a smaller player it is unlikely hell retain the same dominance at the contest in the AFL.

It's possible that whilst ANB was a steady performer this year other clubs perhaps didn't see lots of upside or scope for improvement on what he is already producing? Let's hope that he continues to develop & that his fitness is one particular area which he can use to his advantage at AFL level. We don't have too many gut running mids & he could definitely add something to our side from that perspective.

Edit: spelling

I wouldn't be surprised if ANB plays the most games out of all new draftees next year, given that he has had some experience playing against the bigger bodies in the SANFL.

That and he also seems to have the best tank of all new draftees, what with a sub 10min 3km time-trial and a 15+ beep test. Aerobically, he's probably the most ready.

Hope they managed him better than we managed JT

..or perhaps that his injury was less severe than JT's

Informative little interview on the club website. The kid speaks very well and seems to have a mature head on his shoulders. Played Casey DL on the weekend, so he appears to be back into the thick of it. Looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Yep, and I think he will be a beauty when he gets up and running.

He will be a big part of our resurgence.

Burgo's easiest interview ever? Ask the question and away we go! Here's someone who won't have trouble communicating on the field.

Refreshingly informative, respectful and appreciative, and loved the "we" including in references to previous years.

(p.s. Go the hyphens!)

A Kilo of extra muscle on each leg following the rehab!!!!!!

Providing his knee holds up, I think he'll debut this year. Judging solely off his highlights coming into the draft, he looks a capable type.

A bit of Luke Parker about him I thought.

Shy type !

Now that is an impressive interview. The right mix of humility, confidence, drive and thought given to each and every response. One to watch!

I thought the same thing, all Burgs had to do was prompt and away he'd go. He was clearly nervous as he got tongue tied and was breathless, but otherwise he came across as a natural speaker. Pretty impressive interview, I thought.

Early call but I see a lot of Lenny Hayes in this kid

Wait till you see him and Stretch work together on a footy field Nash, a thing of beauty, seen it a couple of times already at training

As I have stated before when you speak to the players these days, they can't speak highly enough of the fitness.staff and medicos

Anyone know how many touches he did have in 50% game time?

He was a really solid performer in he SANFL as an 18 year old and I respect how in the video he didn't get ahead of himself saying he'd be an automatic upgrade to Casey 1's after a full game this week but I hope he plays well enough so he does get upgraded.

Along with Neal-Bullen I think Stretch, Harmes and Toumpas are 4 young midfielders who can contribute at AFL level at some stage this year. The reinforcements for the 2nd half of the season who provide a bit of fresh energy if there are injuries or some of the others lose form.

I'll have to see a quote before I believe someone said that.

You left out a few who should go:

Spencer

Fitzpatrick

Riley

King

Tehrlich

Matt Jones

Neal-Bullen

Harmes

Hunt

White

Jamar will retire

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
