Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What a sad lot we are. Here we are getting all warm and moist over Brayshaw which I suppose is fair enough, yet his highlights reel is no better than JT's , or his credentials better , yet on the other hand many here are ready to burn him at the stake 'finished' they say.

Finished, trade him, get him out of the joint is the implication.

I find it disappointing we aren't prepared to give this kid more than a fair go because that's what he tried to do for us, more than likely when he was battling his own issues.

Hasn't run off for 20 pieces of silver , took on the captaincy, thrust into the headlights and never waivered at a time was in real trouble.

Love him, love his spirit and I really hope that he shoves it up a few backsides on here.

Great Post Dockett, 22 running around each week with his attitude would be a bonus

Not to mention that he asked the Demon community to keep its faith in him.

I do realise that the club has a difficult decision to make with his status in terms of whether to keep him on the primary list or delist him with the promise of full pay and a rookie listing. I know that there are some who would criticise such a decision but I believe that if its dealt with properly between the club and Jack, it could be a win/win for both and avoid the possibility of the angst we saw over Mitch Clark and his injury and illness woes.

Anyone remember a Richmon player called Mark Coghlan?

Looked a star in his first couple of seasons then missed half a decade with injuries and retired?

But honestly, I look forward to the day Trengove makes a triumphant return to the field.

I have faith that he will, because I have no reason not to.

And the kid will give it a red hot crack, so if it's possible, he'll do it.

Also don't agree that he can't stay around after being on the trade table.

He's smart enough to know how this game works & Roos is a smooth enough operator to mend fences.

No party in this is naive or unreasonable, so it will lead to the best possible outcome.

Well it will be interesting if the club agrees with you. If they put enormous efforts into getting him fit it would indicate they think he is very likely to stay (or are complete mugs if they think he'll leave regardless of what we do). If they don't do much then it will look like they agree with you.

Muggs Sue if recent history is correct

In fairness to Brayshaw, not many highlights were better than JT's.

Trengove was destined to be a gun. I do not know what happened, perhaps MFC happened.

These comments suck guys.

I understand why you might be skeptical and sure theres a chance he might not pull it off.

But he's asked us, the supporters to back him in.

He is a contracted player that has been through a hell of a lot and he bleeds red and blue.

Look how much faith geelong has put into menzel.

He had so much time out of the game.

Whether the menzel gamble pays off I don't know, but my morals tell me to back jack.

And he gets paid a lot , a real lot of money in a professional arrangement. Stop treating this as some sort of kum by yah social and benelovent co-op. Its not the local footy club.

Yep and yep again, for Christ sakes we were happy to trade him of!!!

You do gooders forget 50 years of bugger all and we want to play "all warm and friendlies"

Time to ask yourselves, what do we want this club to be??

What I'm struggling to understand is the football departments stance that they would support him BEYOND 2015!

Think about it he wouldn't have played potentially for nearly 2 full seasons and the fact that we would even consider him beyond 2015 is staggering.

We are not and should not be throwing away good money on the possibility and a big possibility that he will not come up.

To look at extending his contract beyond 2015 is tantamount to very risky list management.

Remember, we were quite happy to let him go to Richmond not two weeks ago.

Very very risky!

We get 40 list spots. 44 if you include rookies. The average return of late round draft picks or rookies is diddly squat. We extended the contracts of Bail, Riley and Terlich all before the trade period.

The way I see if between now and this time next year if things are at least heading in the right direction then the cost-benefit of keeping him will probably still be worth it. Remember he's a great leader and guy to have around.

Presumably we were interested in trading him and 23 for pick 12 maybe as part of a bigger deal. Even still that's a significant pick upgrade and shows he still has value. If we were willing to [censored] him to the Tigers for a 4th round pick and then want to keep him for 2 more years then it's a different scenario.

For now I guess lets worry about this year first.

Hawks kept Max Bailey on their list through 3 knee reconstructions. To me thats why they have not won a flag since.

I'm a big fan of Jacks and I was really sad to hear he was potentially going to Richmond, but that pales in comparison to how gutted I felt for him when I heard about this latest set back.

Coming back from an injury like this requires someone with a strong mental ability, so if anyone can do it it's going to be him. FWIW there were just as many people on here saying Col Garland would never play another game so let's all keep that in mind.

In terms of how the club deals with him, obviously first step is to try to get him out on the park. I don't expect we'll see much of him at all but at the end of the contract I would say we are well within our rights to consider his worth to the club, we will have younger players pushing up the ranks and potentially he might not fit into the side. But at the end of the day it's all up to coaching staff to decide whether he'll fit into the club after 2015, and it might be a case of a fresh start could be best for both parties.

That said, he's asked us to back him in. So I'm doing just that.

Coughlan was never the same player after he did his knee, still playing in Perth

If we delist Jack, he would have every right to nominate as a Delisted FA and he could go to the club of his choice without going thru any draft.

Risky for a club to take him? Yes, but there would be takers as they only need a list spot for him and don't use any picks. We took Riley as a DFA while he had a broken leg...

Delisting Jack on a rookie promise doesn't seem very smart.

BTW the Newton situation was pre FA so not relevant anymore.

Those who are concerned about the impact of the proposed Tiger Deal need only recall that O'Keefee was desperate to get to the Hawks, but the trade didn't eventuate then went on to win a Norm Smith.

There is a slight difference between a player wanting out of club and then staying as opposed to a club wanting a player out but couldn't get the deal done.

Swans also offered Jude Bolton for trade around 4-5 years before he retired and he stayed when a suitable trade didn't come up and was very successful.

Yes, correct ( aiui ) He can go as a DFA. But which ever club he goes to he must then go on their Primary list. True, not picks required but he still takes up a spot. He'd go , likely , straight on new teams LTI allowing a rookie elevation but its very convoluted, awkward and an expence for what ? There are better 'prospects' to gamble with i would have thought for most clubs.

Riley simply had a broken leg. its prognosis was understood . Risk minimal. Jack's foot ?????? whole different ball game I'm afraid. I genuinely feel sorry for Jack. He's done nothing wrong just copped a bloody crap injury. Shlt happens :( often to the wrong people.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
