Excuse my ignorance, but why was Carlton happy to lose him for very little?

Henrieta and now Garlett for SFA -not too bad at all!

^_^

Presumably Roos is happy that he can get him to play his role - what more can one ask, basically for free.

Geez, he and mad Mick must have had a huge falling out.

Hogan can't do it on his own. I obviously don't hold much faith in Pederson helping him out.

Nobody showed much faith in Pedersen prior to season 2014 - he made huge strides. If he can continue to improve he will fill a role (and not just as Merret's punching bag.)

Wait till the real stories come out about his time at Carlton!

Then we might re-think!

Speculation, real information, or natural and completely justified demon pessimism?

Essendon was also in the race to land Garlett, but he ultimately chose the Demons after meeting with the club's senior players and coach Paul Roos' desire to add him to the forward line.

good decision

The article on afl says "he managed only 12 goals in 9 games in 2014", that would nearly win our goal kicking in just 9 games.

Very happy, Just read he averaged 2 goals and 3.5 tackles a game.

He strikes me as a slightly fragile personality which would/did struggle under a [censored] like malthouse. But roos could make all the difference and at 25 he could be primed for it

No idea. Just presuming Carltank will start telling it like it is.....

I'm quite happy with this trade, we haven't given up much and he is a player that is highly skilled and highly talented. Hopefully Roos will be able to work his magic on him.

Welcome to the MFC.

Stoked with this. Hopefully he can take JKH under his wing and they can feed off each other in complimentary roles, ala Betts and Garlett in 2013.

Carlton are really on the nose. How are they planning to kick goals next year?? No Waite, no Garlett, no Betts.

The fact that we couldn't ship Blease or Strauss must be worrying for them both. Perhaps they will be rookies somewhere. The fact that Cartank wanted pick 698 before one of these blokes speaks to their true currency.

And Jeff, when you put on the new shirt, try a smile!

Howe, Dawes, Kent

Garlett, Hogan, Pedersen

with JKH and Watta on the bench

Wow! That's a forward line and a half!

Just swap out Howe for Cameron and I'm with ya

The potential of Mcartin in there now does start to look formidable.

This deal gets a thumbs up from me. He clearly fills a need as a goal kicking forward and the cost is basically nothing. I don't think we will take more than three or four picks into the draft, and two of those will be Stretch and Jetta. We have way too many players on our list who are too raw or too useless to be playing senior AFL football, so the fewer guys we bring in with later picks the better.

Does this take the record for criticising a player early in his MFC career?

Welcome Jeffy.

Trade question: why do they bother including those low picks?

Just to make Carlton feel better? From a big picture perspective what's the diff between 79 and 83?

I'm genuinely curious.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
