WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA

Clark Out Lumumba In is fine by me. With Mitch's foot and head issues, getting a player like Lumumba is more than acceptable IMO. We thought he was gone for nothing a few months back, and Lumumba presents a much safer bet, even if he is a bit of a loon.

[censored] deal for us. Sorry but it is.

Wait for Clark to rip it up next year.

How so? Clark hasn't played a good game in over 2 years. Lumumba just finished 4th in the B&F at a club that's streets ahead of us.

I would have preferred to keep Clark but the guy is scum and Roos has made the best of a bad situation.

After today, I am fine with having Lamumba for Clark.

Less of a toss er with a stable navicular...

Honestly, that should be how we recruit these days:

Viney: "Nice to meet you kid, got some talent...so if I were to grab you here does it hurt?"

Kid: "Mr Viney, you're hurting my foot!"

Viney: "Aha! p i s s off kid. Next!"

Nasher: Toss er and p i s s o f f censored? If that is foul language then what kind of a country do we live in?

Balme saying it'll go through tomorrow, straight swap

I am making my way out of remote Africa in a few hours and not arriving back in Melbourne ( or in touch with the internet ) until Wednesday evening. I certainly hope that the trade is well and truly done by this time (in addition to the big mega trade and maybe even Frost)! Happy posting everybody until then!

Ah shame, especially given none of the other Australians living over here seem to have any interest in AFL, let alone time to indulge in pre-season rumours on Demonland...

I agree Jaded, we really should be getting a pick of some.description back as well or at least a guy on the fringe at the Cats.

I just don't think we are going to be able to do this. If we were playing NHL 98, Lumumba would be rated around 80-85, Varcoe around 75, and Clark around 90 with a bandaid next to his name. Collingwood are clearly getting the worst player in the deal and I'm sure they've already been kicking up a stink behind closed doors about improving their draft position in this trade if their Beams dealings and past history is anything to go by. I'd love to get an extra pick out of it, but it'd probably be easier if we had a pick in the 30-80 range that could be upgraded rather than just a straight pick in, but we don't.

Let's be realistic here. Collingwood can't wait to be rid of Lumumba here. They have no bargaining power whatsoever and should be happy to take what they are given. Especially given that they need Lumumba off the list to afford Greenwood.

Geelong are not the sort of team to be making speculative player trades. They are keen on Clark because they think he is mentally and physically able to play decent football for them next year. If he plays regularly, and Geelong are seemingly comfortable that he will, he is clearly worth way more than Varcoe.

Geelong need to give us something extra and I hope the club stand firm in demanding a pick.

Amazing that Geelong's announcement has Clark in a Geelong jumper, but ours has Lumumba in a Collingwood jumper. Does anybody at the club have a clue how to promote themselves?

Whos to say hes not out of the country or similar.

They should have got them all to bring their original jumpers, and then just swapped them.

Well, we have Hershey Lumumbles now... The one who will have the last laugh, the one who is blessed the one who is quite mad! But Clark is gone and I no longer have to watch that guy ruin No 11 or the dees and so forth. Welcome Hairy McCleary from Donaldsons Dairy wear the Demons Jumper and play like ya mean it.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
