Driving Lumumba's price up also drives up the asking price for Beams. This is pie-o-nomics 101. They want more than a first rounder for beams and will play hardball at the trade table.

We need to tempt them with Geelong's pick #33 if it come our way. Maybe we do that and swap a 4th round for a 6th round to sweeten the deal for them.

Buckley wants him out of the club. There are no other takers. He has a 1 year contract left with the Pies.

We are in a strong position to deal.

Agreed, though that won't necessarily translate to Collingwood not being silly at the trade table.

I'm sure this is how we will be playing it.

This is a really interesting scenario. Given that our fall back position is "f... you! keep him and sort it yourselves"!

You would think that we have the filth at our mercy.

At the very least, if the deal goes ahead, there should be no suggestion that we have paid "overs".

Mahoney said on SEN this morning that their belief is that Lamumba's value lies somewhere between a 2nd and 3rd round draft pick. I was relieved to hear this as a straight swap for our 2nd pick is overs - we need something else back.

Given that we hopefully won't have a 3rd round pick if Stretch gets through, one scenario might be:

Melbourne's 2nd and 4th Round Picks (approx 22 and 58) for Lamumba and Collingwood's 3rd Round Pick (Approx 42).

Mahoney also confirmed that we are reasonably confident of being able to secure one of or both of Sam Frost and Daniel Merrett. Perhaps that pick 42 would then be enough for one of those.

Collingwood's 3rd rounder at this stage is 45 and it will likely go out further after compo. Which is probably fair enough for Frost.

I'd still rather give them a lower pick to start with. We need 22 at the draft table. Let's see what Mitch Clark fetches. We can always swap them 22 for 28, it at least keeps us a top 30 pick.

Agree GRRM...would be hanging on to 22

I reckon we should get this bloke called Harry O'Brien instead

Yeah, Harry O looks as though he has a little bite in him, not sure about Lumumba. Maybe we can give collingwood our second round for both player.. :)

Lumumba just came 4th in the copeland.

Not a bad effort for a player that majority of demonland didnt want and basically a straight swap for Clark.

Lumumba over Clark is a massive win for us.

Need to understand African culture.

I'd have a high opinion of myself if I'd been forced to play at Colonwood most of my career.

Especially surrounded by such arrogant management.

Surely alarm bells are ringing at Collingwood? Something very seriously wrong there.

Swan only has another few years left in him... what does that leave Pendlebury with?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
