AFC echo's Brisbane stuff up with Voss last year.

2013 Brisbane tried to high-jack our approach to Roos: Melb WON!!

2014 Adelaide tried to high-jack our approach to Goodwin: Melb WON!!

Real turning point for our Club!!

2011: Melbourne sign Neeld getting in ahead of Adelaide - Melb LOSE (note: most coaches from 2011 have a horrible record)

2013: Brisbane try to sign Roos, fail, end up signing Leppa who looks like a great coach and costs them at least half if not a third of the price and will be there long term:

2014: Adelaide miss Goodwin, end up signing Stewie Dew (possibly) the man the Dees originally wanted

Bit early to start counting our chickens.

That said I am impressed that Goodwin chose us. It might well be we were the only job available and he committed before the chance to apply to Adelaide even registered on his horizon. But if he did choose I can't help but think he's making a really good decision to form part of a succession plan and round out his training before he gets the job. That kind of investing in his future and patience is rare for AFL coaches especially for the star player turned coach types.

Best thing about getting Goodwin is that he's come from Essendon and can teach us how to beat them… Oh...

I'd take Sloane ahead of Crouch.

But be happy with either.

Last year I thought Sloane was a B+ Grader that wouldn't make an A grade player.

This year Sloane shown that he was an A grader - with the potential to go even further.

Sloane reminds me a bit of Nathan Jones in the way he just breaks through barriers - probably on limited talent.

Either you haven't seen much of Brad Crouch, or your not a very good judge of footballers

How's PJ just sitting quietly off to the side, overseeing it all? The puppetmaster.

Such an impressive bloke. I know that's not news to anyone, but I hope he signs on for another year after next.

I don't think Crouch is likely, it'd almost be akin to us trading Hogan, but stranger things have happened. Particularly, when money is involved and he is a Victorian. Who knows.

Anyone worried about Goodwin's communication skills after the presser should watch the one-on-one interview with Burgo. Much more impressive.

But if our catchphrase is going to become 'sustained success', think he needs to practice abit more

Is it me or does he have a strong English accent sometimes?

[censored] I'm excited by this. Super impressed with that whole press conference and interview. What's so striking is the professionalism and the united message. We're almost unrecognisable.

Where's Ron Burgundy? He must be bouncing off the walls! Busting out my finest rum & coke this evening.

The smug ,supercilious know all ,footy bore just never ends with you Machsy.

I'll let you in on a secret, which many should learn here.

We are all just fans with opinions and theories and nothing we do will change that fact until we are paid by the club for our footy knowledge.

Which will never happen.

Seriously WGAF?

Seems ok but he is from SA which makes him suss.

So is half our list though.

It's the Adelaide thing. ;)

It's a definite weakness in character.

Not one good thing has come from that backwater ever.

its always fun going out on a limb

Great comment RJ!.

How could we entertain Goodwin after the Bombers saga. Who leaked the info to Riccuito last year etc?

Favourite sons don't work necessarily - Voss, Hird, Barassi, Bucks. Good luck with this Crows.

Who are/were the top 4 coaches now - Clarko, Scott boys, Longmire, Hinkley, Roos, Hafey, Jeans, Northey, Balme, Daniher etc. Professionals.

Jackson and Roos will get the job done re: succession.

Yep well done lads you can help each other wipe the egg off.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
