Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What would you offer to Adelaide?

Conversely, what would you accept if the situation were reversed? Say it was Nathan Jones on the table (and look past "nup, not on the table" for the sake of interesting hypotheticals).

During the Bailey years I knew someone who worked at a club and participated in trade week. He said that all the clubs had a different approach to trading: some like Essendon would do its best to offer ridiculous trades to try and screw you and ultimately do very few trades because other clubs would stop wasting their time. Other clubs like Sydney under Roos would work out what they wanted and offer up a fair price straight away and the deals would get done quickly with no fuss. They had a model of being easy to do business with, and had a lot of success at the trade table a result.

I want us to focus less on being tight and focus on getting the job done. Don't try and get Dangerfield cheaply, acknowledge that he is an asset and will be expensive, offer accordingly and get the job done.

Don't forget that in this trade it is Adelaide taking all the risk, given they are loading up on draft picks. We of all clubs should be aware of how horribly that can go wrong.

Pick 2, 3, 4 (Toumpas), and receiving Dangerfield and pick 9, is overs for me.

We are giving up for example; Petracca, Tyson and Salem, and Toumpas (jury still out) for Dangerfield and whatever pick 9 gets us.

That's 4 potential elites (jury still out on some but for discussion sake), for 1 confirmed (Danger) and 1 possible (pick 9).

I'd be happy for pick 2 or 3 and perhaps 2 other players, but i feel we need to not just jump the gun here and throw all our eggs in one basket. We need a lot more midfield help then just 1 elite player. Look at Sydney, they have midfielders coming out of their bottoms! So to give up the possibilities of getting that with our high draft picks--2, 3, 4 (Toumpas) for 1 man seems ludicrous.

On that note, how are we going with Jones re-signing, and at what stage do we start worrying about losing him to FA?

It's totally out of character for D'land to worry about that!

We ignore it until the last minute. Then we panic.

Really? I guess I forgot how easy it's been for us to attract big name talent. Like it or not, players have to agree to a trade. If Dangerfield didn't want to play for Melbourne, it wouldn't matter if we offered Adelaide all our draft picks and our best five players.

They don't care about winning, just money. unless of course you believe in santa

That's not what we are seeing in free agency. Sure, some like Franklin have chased the coin, but we are seeing plenty of players leave chasing success over money.

And why wouldn't I believe in Santa?

What's 100-200k if you're already earning 800k? Most players have left in FA to chase success. Only the outrageous, ridiculous contracts of the Scully and Franklin variety have bucked the trent.

Unless Melbourne can offer him 350k+, it might be hard to persuade him to agree to a trade imo.

There is a lot of truth in this rumour. I can confirm we are chasing Danger and have been for sometime. I can confirm long term discussions with his manager. However like most on here I agree its going to be a difficult sell to get Danger to the Dees. We are in the running, we can offer Adelaide the best deal, we can probably offer Danger the most money, but we are still a long shot. Much better than 1% as suggested by another poster, but still far from a level of getting excited.

Roos needs to weave his magic. If he lands with the Dees we can thank Roosy.

Adelaide might entertain as well. Are they still out of the first round of the draft this year?

They might think if he doesn't go this year he will next as a free agent and if they have a good year might result in a pick in the teens. Trade this year get a top 3 pick and a sweetener.

Pick 2 and 3 plus Toumpas Is way over for dangerfield.

Give them pick 2 and toumpas for danger and pick 9. Lets remember Danger is 25 and most player finish up when they are 30. So we will probably get 5 years out of him we possibly get 10 years from say a pick 3 (Brayshaw).

Something that just occurred to me about this is that arguably Adelaide was our best game for the year.

For someone like Dangermouse to consider us as a viable proposition, we need them to think that we're worth the risk, that there are better times to come. It might be easier to get him thinking this way, having seen us at our best, than someone like Shiel, for example, who's only seen us when we've been horrible.

Also he's an old 25 in football terms 'dazzle', been knocked around a bit.

Hyperthetical based on no rumours or anything,

MFC trade pick 3 to GCS for picks 7, 15

MFC trade pick 2, 7 and Toumpas to Adelaide

Adelaide trade Patrick Dangerfield and pick 9 to MFC

Melbourne gain Dangerfield, and go to the draft with picks 9 and 15 ( Laverde and Duggan)

Adelaide gain Pick 2, 7 and Jimmy Toumpas

all of this is relying on Adelaide feeling they will lose Dangerfield next year anyway, massive deal from us they couldn't possibly match and Dangerfield telling them he is going to take it either this year or next.

Number of rumours around that Adelaide are chasing Cameron hard. Might they use picks gained in trade for Dangerfield to try and prise Cameron from GWS?

The rumours are based on other rumours that Tex Walker is seriously considering a move to us, really seems like something might be brewing

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
