Apart from the continued slight on Jones it just goes to show how well equalisation is working.

On the positive side this just adds more credence to our request to the AFL for special assistance, doesn't it?

Which midfielder would you drop out of the squad of 40 for him? Hasn't had a good enough year to sneak in. Surprised Dunn didn't get a look in, although his last 6 weeks weren't that great either.

I'd drop out Tom Libbertore, Jones is second in the comp for disposals, averaging 7 more disposals per game

You'll need to throw up more info than that - disposal counts do little for me. Libba has had a very, very good year. Some might say it's a line ball, but ask any supporter outside of us and the Dogs and Libba would get pick 8 times out of 10.

Brandon Ellis for a start. Statistically he beats him on pretty much every front.

I think the guy who is 2nd in the league for disposals and 3rd in the league for clearances deserved a spot in the top 40.

He didn't have a great season.

Tried bloody hard.

Bulldust. He had a fantastic season. This oversight doesn't change that one iota.

He had a better year then Libba & ward IMO... Dunn was good first half of the year thought he dropped away badly in the second half. Jetta was never going to make it, not saying he wouldn't have deserved it but the ignorant selectors probably didn't even mention his name

AFL can get [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] & [censored]

Not sure about [censored] or [censored] but otherwise, yeah, close enough.

I would have him in before

Libba, Ward and Ellis and I don't care about their stats because pretty sure Jones stats will be right up there with them. Jones has nowhere near the midfield support these guys have had and usually gets best opposition opponent or if Roos decided to make him go head to head against opposition best.

I agree he was pushing to make the final 22 but not making the 40 is a joke.

It's a joke. Jones in a Collingwood jumper would probably win a Brownlow this season.

Melbourne are the ugly cousin nobody ever asks out to the prom. Sigh.

That has to be the most flawed system since bloody Communism. I try to pay it as little attention as possible but that is just an insult to a quality player.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
