I get it, I just think we can and should do both. The Royal Commission is finally exposing the truth behind the church (and other institutions') abhorrent behaviour, and rarely a day goes by when it's not prominent in the media. Expressing disapproval over these far less serious antics doesn't detract from the bigger and more important fight, in fact I think it complements it. We can walk and chew gum at the same time - it need not be an either / or situation.

Well said. I fully agree.

The good news is that Pedersen wasn't wearing the Rolf Harris outfit.

lmfao !!!

Agree it was a bad error of judgement and poor taste, although it would have been a little less dumb if they hadn't been photographed together.

Did they actually intend to be a double act or was the picture just an unfortunate association? Makes quite a difference to the perceived 'story'.

I think Rolf Harris on his own is definitely less offensive than with being paired with a woman.

And if Georgiou thought coming in drag is somehow fancy dress...well, no wonder he's a rookie.

Where is the criticism for the "Black Face"?

Where is your moral high ground now???

"Why so serious?"
Did they commit the crimes? Have they committed a crime?
People complaining about it need to just get over it and move on.

I love Jewish humour but I've never heard a Holocaust joke (well, not one that wasn't anti-semitic), and especially not one from a survivor, no matter how black their humour is.

I love comedy and that includes edgy, confronting comedy, but I don't think I've ever heard child abuse jokes, or genocide jokes.

So you've never seen an episode of South Park. Or Family Guy. We're not talking underground stuff here.

Humour should never be dissected to this extent.

It was not all that long ago, mad Monday's were the players' domain and the media had an unwritten law not to report on the goings on. Nowadays, nothing is out of bounds for the media pack and they will lust after anything they think will get them headlines. Let's not be mistaken here, this is only about headlines; nothing else. As ill-advised as the antic in question was, it was simply to young men having fun, in what should have been a 'private party'. But sorry guys, you are now public property, by dent of the fact that you are AFL footballers. No 'private' life anymore. Learn from it and move on. The rest of the world will.

Prince Harry was once shot by the paparazzi wearing a Nazi uniform - in far worst taste in my view - but he remains a Prince of the realm just the same. Meantime, the likes of Kyle Sandilands gets away with the most salacious of broadcasting styles and makes a motzah out of it.

Not quite up there with the most offensive things I have ever seen.

Moral prudery ,false outrage and indignation seem to be gripping the city

in some sort of wowser rennaissance.

Yet it's OK for our government to gaol kids seeking asylum indefinitely.

It's also OK to run guns to Iraq.

Our priorities are all retarded.

We are a whitebread nation of fat ,lazy, self satisfied half wits with a reactionary media that plays it's corporate citizens like a fiddle.

This country is run only for the benefit the wealthy.

There is no more respect in Australia for working people, in fact they are despised.

We are truly on the slide.

The corporate media,it's beneficiaries and their advertisers are the scum that erode our society daily and make it rubbish.

Nobody complained about Rolf Harris till it was too late to defend him and I bet there are some big name pedos in the UK and Australia hoping their victims have already suicided and the media has got it's sacrificial lambs.

Any person seriously offended by this should grow a thicker skin.you will need it .

Your are a man after my own heart, Biffo. Not in regards to the Gat lifestyle but in regards to our priorities in this country.

On the question of whether or not they should have worn those costumes, I would disagree. It was a brain fade and they should be spoken to by the club.

However, your point about actual issues such as kids in detention and how they are all kosher versus the piddling crap people get up in arms about is exactly how I have felt since I got back to Oz in 2010 (and makes me seriously think about going back OS).

We worry about celebrities performing and chasing balls while the most of the world is worried about dodging bullets and finding their next meal.

moral outrage! righteous indignation! rabble rabble rabble!

tumblr_m8g65tWo4O1qhrsco.gif

That's ironic. If you look at this tread there have only been a small number of posts criticizing the stupidity of the players or responding to the many apologists. The vast majority of posts (the rabble if you like) have been from people seemingly fearful of the all encompassing threat of the nasty PC monster.

no sense of humour! don't people get satire! boys being boys! what's the world coming to! get over yourself you wowsers!rabble, rabble, rabble

Feels much like an echo chamber to me

Oh dear, posters on Demonland complaining about poor taste, can't have been on here for long

Maybe Terlich made a mistake, but he didn't kill anyone, move on, worse than the media some of the self righteousness being displayed here

If we had a female team and one of the players went dressed in very little, most of the male posters on here would be cheering from the sidelines

As for Harris himself, unfortunately these days, you can't be the dirty old uncle with the wandering hands after a bit to drink

It stopped being 'private' when the players themselves posted photos on social media.

Roosy is pissed .....

I would of loved to be a fly on the wall at that conversation

Jeez, can't Roosy see that it was just a hilarious joke? Come on Roosy, don't be so PC.

Every now and again a thread on Demonland makes me feel sick. This is one of those occasions. I wasn't even that angry at the actions of the players - it was one of those "oh you bloody idiots" moments, but the response on here has me completely incensed. If I'm being brutally honest, it makes me question whether I belong as a member of this community or not.

I hesitate to personalise this but here goes.

My daughter is a victim of sexual abuse - she laughed at the images and I thought if she can do it so can I.

Great post chook

the PC brigade make me sick. They are worse than anyone dressing up in a Rolf Harris costume

Now we know the real reason behind Satys presence at training- he's grooming them lol

A couple of footballers do something ill-considered. Stupid really. They'll get a clip from the club, no doubt.

A daily then publishes a critical half page spread including photo.

The hypocrisy of the media is what really burns me.

You're not alone, even though it doesn't surprise me. More's the pity.

Roos summed it up well.

"AN INCREDULOUS Paul Roos has left Melbourne players Dean Terlich and Alex Georgiou in no doubt that their 'Mad Monday' costume was completely unacceptable, with the duo to face a club-imposed sanction."

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
