Bad jokes aside, I think Oscar would be a good pick at 40.

Ideally I'd like Brayden Maynard, but I'm not confident he will last that long.

I know it's not good business, but I'm really hoping that we move on a guy like Evans so we can use pick 53.

Really? Who'd have known that. I thought it was Tom and James who were related.....

I thought the game was to name players with the same surname who weren't related. Sorry for not picking up on the unadvertised rule change.

Would be a great pick up at 40 and good to have the brothers playing together.

As the AFL website is suggesting that the Western Bulldogs might pick him up with their first pick (#26) then it would be very lucky indeed if Oscar is still there at #40!

Sounds a decent prospect and I'm hoping we are able to pick him up with a late pick and let him develop for a few years.

Let him develop for a few years!!! That's way too sensible for us... Farout!! If he isn't pushing for the top ten in the comp by his second year, then we have him in the gun... Development? Pfft... Get real....

Lol..

I'm a self confessed clueness nuffie when it comes to draftees, but I love this from a personal perspective. Happy times in the McDonald family tonight I reckon.

Great get at 53! Was said he would go in the 20-30's, so great to land him with a late pick. He plays just like his older brother Tom, so we add some good depth and add a bit more of a family connection with the club which is nice to see.

Think the club had a hunch that McDonald would slip to 53. Would've have jumped at him at 40 if otherwise. Great to see another pair of brothers at the Dees, let alone McDonald's!

Massive pick up!

Is just as good up forward then back.

This reminds me when Sydney picked up Sam Reid as the defender.

Is his disposal any better than Tom's?

Can he play forward?

Don't get me wrong, I'm really stoked, but just interested to know.

Was hoping big O would fall our way . This kid is a great add and unlike Tom can kick goals!

I can see him playing forward, a lot of vision of him doing that on YouTube.

Brotherly love again at the Dees! Makes me all warm and gooey inside :)

A much better kick. His kicking for a big man is actually quite impressive.

Big boy too. 197cm tall.

I think the major concern is speed. Key forwards aren't just getting taller but some of them are super fast (ie. Jeremy Cameron, Buddy Franklin).

So Oscar looks nicely suited as a CHB and nicely complementing of Sam Frost. Not sure where that leaves Tommy! But plenty of years until we need to worry about that.

Yes and yes, possibly even half back. While he is tall and has grown a heap in the past 18 months, he is incredibly quick over the first few steps for a guy his height, and reads the play well. Unlikely to see any senior footy next year but he is a well grounded young man.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
