GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Recommended Posts

Does anyone here ACTUALLY KNOW where he stands vis à vis what are his and our options were he to choose to make another attempt at an AFL career.

It would seem to me that he is not on any list and as such he would have to enter via the main draft.

Are there any precedents, or any special provisions pertinent to this situation?

I have no doubt that Mitch, his management and the club have given thought to the future.

If Mitch's retirement was to remove him from the limelight and all associated pressures then conspiracy stories posted by Demonlanders don't help that, regardless of the level of accuracy they may possess.

Let it be.

As much I would love the great man back in the red and blue I don't think it's worth the risk of him trying.

If he was put back on a list the media would be relentless around him placing him in an awful environment.

Furthermore, if he got through that, busted a gut getting through pre-season and then hurt himself badly round 1 can anyone imagine how distraught he would be??

I've put him in the Jacko, Jurrah, Schwartz category. Bright flames that burnt to quickly.

Have you actually got anything to add to the thread?

He has more than you, by the looks of it.

Honestly, are you guys that vague?

We all know Nudge does the outlandish rumour threads that feed our desire to dream...

His sources are, every year, without fail, wide of the mark.

Not saying he makes it up, but whoever feeds him those lines doesn't have much clue themselves and the majority is bleedingly obvious guesswork.

Like his offseason posts, I'll enjoy the opportunity this thread gives me to dream, yet I'll take them with a grain of salt.

You'd be wise to also.

he was removed from our list actually

Was he? I am unaware of that, when was it done? Why would it be done now, when lists aren't declared again until later in the year? Are you sure he wasn't just placed on the long term injury list?

Why is he still listed on the team list on the club site?

That's how it was reported on the AFL and MFC websites at the time - he was officially removed from the list. Permanently.

If Mitch makes a comeback it'll be the best footy story in a long time.

Better that Benny Cousins come back from his meth addiction.

Better that Andrew Krakours return following an assault conviction and subsequent jail term.

Etc.

Castle in the air stuff.

This article will clear it up.

Though I suppose we don't know what the "confidential terms" were.

This does not clear it up at all.all it does is restate the current position. It says nothing about the future.

Put your self on the clubs position. We have a situation where our best player has a serious long term injury, like a two year injury, where he has been unable to play for that period of time yet he is collecting $800k per year over that period. Some players like Scully would have no problem with that, but Mitch Clark really wants to play and really wants to help the demons to the top. His inability to be able to do that, and the consequence questioning of his integrity has sent him into a depressive state. We should all feel for him in that and the most important thing in that is for him to get better ASAP irrespective of his football status.

BUT, the MFC in this if they are being responsible must look after their own interests. That is, ensure Mitch has the best possible help in his recovery with no pressure about a return. If there was any chance at all though he could return they would be crazy not to make sure there was a guaranteed pathway the the MFC. That is all I am saying.I have no doubt that has been put in place. Any amount of spin in the media does not change that. It is the most sensible and professional path for the club to take, and also the best for Mitch clark

I have spoken to someone quite high up in the club and they have told me that there Mitch is completely free to do whatever he wants in terms of moving clubs. The MFC has no rights in regards to him playing for us. This person believed there is a 50-50 chance that Mitch will be playing for Fremantle next year (this person also told me Mitch was going to retire a month before it happened which I posted on a previous thread so do not doubt the source). So if he plays, don't expect it to be in the red and the blue :(

English please.

4 posts all claiming to be involved with a 'high employee at the club', all posted under the username hogansheros, not to be confused with the non-stop poster 'hogansheroes' who told everyone yesterday that Jamar would be the sub as a joke ... Gathered everyone would think he was obviously having a laugh..

Call me naive, if you want to believe Hogansheros go for your life, but we have enough people on here making rumours I think I'll just let my mind wander when it comes to this topic.

I stand by what I said. The article refers to him being removed from the list in the future. I don't believe that has happened.

Why would they do it now, when there is no need to do it until lists are declared, later in the year?

To me this makes no sense - If we thought Mitch planned to go to Freo why would we remove him from our list? And why would Mitch want to be taken off our list? Surely his best chance to get to Freo would be via a trade.

My view is that Mitch announcing his retirement and Melbourne removing him from our list takes all pressure and weight of expectations off Mitch as well as media attention away from the club. We should accept that Mitch has retired and accept "it is what it is"

Regardless of it being true or not, the Freo angle is always going to be brought up as the alternative amongst some of those who think he will play again. After all, wasn't it supposedly Freo he was headed to before he signed the 11th hour deal with us?

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
