Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Over a bomberblitz, even when they try to be dignified, they find way to be snarky and smug.

"Good luck to the dees, took every chance, and got everything.
Can't wait for the day they fold though."

I know some rea.lly lovely, honestly passionate bomber supporters. It's true!

But any bomber fan who isn't feeling a little conflicted about their club at the moment has some personal issues of their own to deal with.

Some of the bombers I've talked to, it feels like they wish they could move all their players to another club - loyalty is very specific to the players.

And they wont have missed that their best two today were either not at the club or not involved in the program.

Wow. Just. Wow.

I haven't felt like that after a win since we beat St Kilda in the 2006 final. To be copping it down 33 points, but to claw our way back, to dominate the second half, to barnstorm in to the lead, but drop it, but come back, just absolutely surreal.

I'm sure it's been covered in this thread already, but big props to Jamar, N Jones, Watts, Dunn and Tyson. Salem of course with that final goal, but I thought those five were just outstanding.

I also loved how the Salem goal was brought about by a chain of play involving Garland, McKenzie, McDonald and Cross. They were the players making huge mistakes today, but when we needed a lift we got it. That was quite symbolic for mine.

Our poise under extreme pressure was really something (especially in the last 15 minutes or so) It's like we grew an extra leg and our finishing skills were excellent. The play that finished with the Salem goal was tremendous - especially at that time of the game. Heady stuff from Dawes not to call for the ball from Salem as well. McKenzie's coolness in that play was brilliant.

We keep coming out after half time with renewed vigour and we continue to finish games off well - that's a sign of a side on the up. The self belief is growing and we're only going to get better.

Apart from being an excellent tactician, Roos is the supreme motivator.

A fantastic effort today.

ps ... Pies, Blues, Dons and Tigers all lose on the one weekend and we win ... Bliss!

We just need to learn how to start games properly then we will have the complete package.

J'espère que vous avez regardé l'ensemble du jeu, et étranglée sur votre croissant du matin. Il montre à juste titre que le travail acharné et l'effort honnête peuvent finalement vaincre la tricherie et la prise de drogue.

Look forward for Tommy Mac to take the confidence from a lot of great spoils and fix the rest of his game. So many great plays under pressure by Tommy Mac including his role in the final goal. Some bad ones as well. Wish he was a bit faster at times today and take the ball over the line don't give away dumb deliberates!!!!

Please can we win a game by 10 goals and control it in the midfield so guys like Tommy Mac, Dunn, Jetta etc can have a rest!

That deliberate OOB actually bounced of his knee, or just above it, it was purely accidental and a dreadful decision by the umpire.

Tommy has pretty good pace but sometimes he backs himself when he should get rid of it earlier, he has to understand that sometimes his opponent is quicker.

Love to win a game by 10 goals, I'm too old for these close ones, but I must say today was just great and to see the opposition leaving while I was singing the song made just that much better.

Me and my 10 year old daughter were surrounded by bummer supporters, when they kicked that goal to take lead back he was behind us screaming lungs out and spitting all over us. I got up told him to shut the f%^k up and told me if l didn't like it to go somewhere else. We didn't and when Salem kicked the goal l turned around gave him a look and he was just about crying, it was beautiful..........hate bummer supporters

You'd think they'd know that they're on a hiding to nothing on the sledging front at the moment.

The dill in front of me was mouthing off all day about how we'd soon be at the snow.

I told him I'd rather be at Buller than sitting in some dodgy backyard clinic with a needle sticking out of my arm.

Morons make like that make the win all the more sweet.

That last Zaharakis goal was crapola and should never have happened.

At the secondary centre bounce Jamar was HELD by their ruck man while Goddard went third man up and tapped it to their advantage for the goal.

It should never have happened. U even saw the jumper pull on Jamar.

Unbelievable.

But hey we still WON.

Cannot believe we came back from 33 points down.

Didn't look like kicking a point in the first half let alone NINE goals in the second half.

Well done boys.

well, hasn't the tide turned... & the bummers, well, they just ran outa Pep.

If I was to pick one club to do that against, it would be the scum.

If I was to pick one player to kick the winning goal, Salem would be very close. Talk about a coming of age moment.

That was an absolutely beautiful thing. My faith was taking a hammering by halftime, but to show that kind of heart in the second was amazing.

I used to go to games in the post-Northey era appalled at not recalling one smother.

Today we had 7, 8, 9?

Young Salem smother = Watts goal; and then the composure with 34,000 ferals shouting at you.

That last goal. Vince tackling Howlett in the pocket, Pedersen shrugging off the tackle, Jones using his left, Frawley's contest to bring the ball to ground, McKenzie's one-two with Frawley, McDonald's fantastic run off Daniher to link up and free Tyson and Viney, and Cross lowering his eyes to find Salem (he wouldn't have made the distance I doubt).

Under that kind of pressure, just unreal.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
