You don't trade players like him without negative consequences.

Surely people have learnt from the Junior debacle by now.

I doubt a Captain would be traded RB simply because he is a captain.

However if you were looking at ability only I would have him towards the front of the trade for advantage queue.

Delist - Evans, Nicholson, Strauss, Blease, Tapscott, Barry, Clisby, Fitzpatrick (none of these players can get or hold a spot in a rubbish side) I recon we will hold onto Georgiou for depth.

I think most players are up for trade dependng on what we get offered.

The above gives us 10 spots. Niffty will be upgraded and I recon that young Max King showed enough in the pre-season to maybe get a spot. Georgiou will be retained as rookie as will Harmes. That leaves 9-10 positions to fill plus or minus any trades we are able to sort out.

I dont think any defenders other than Frawley will be let go. The defence has been good and ranks well in the comp.

We obviously need to get some depth in defence if Frawley goes includng some speed and someone who can hit a target. We will move heaven and earth for a big key forward player and will trade pretty much anyone and anything to get the right player (Patten, Cameron, Jaksche or Boyd from GWS). Kent appears to have some chance of filling the small forward role with JKH. We also need to add some depth and class in the midfeld along with Salem with decent preseason and hopefully Toumpas if he comes on.

Geeze by the looks of things we are placing a lot of hope on both Trengove and Toumpas turning things around in a big way. I believe they are both tradeable back to there home state.

He was highly rated from all the usual noise makers. Teach him how to run properly and you have a player from what I have seen.

And Toumpas and Trengove have close to zero trade value.

Some of you would decimate this list (even more) with your Neeld-like trade outs of players just to get rid of them.

The team is ranked 3rd in the AFL for delivery efficiency out of the back line.

Our problem lies in the delivery that is about 70m out of goal - we're ranked 18th in this area......so, is the ball going in the right hands for i50 delivery?

he had some utterly dominate games in his younger years, the hips have set him back though, I reckon Roosy and Stone are the best two people to turn him into something

I've said it before, but toumpas and trenners are the last two blokes on roosys mind.

Why you ask?

We can't trade trade them as they don't have much trade value, we won't get anything worth while for them because of their recent on park performances and injury issues.

We won't delist them, because there so many guys below them - e.g. blease, strauss, terlich, mckenzie, .. the list goes on.

Our best bet for the next year or 2 is to put the work in to them and develop them.

Im quite confident they will both come along.

I have more faith in trenners because I have seen what he can do.

I don't know about toumpas and his hip surgery and what the ramifications were, but with misson and roos running the show id imagine they're on top of this and know where he's at. He wouldn't be playing at any level if there was still an issue. (well i hope not)

my gut feeling is that he's had trouble stregthening the hip muscles, lower back, hamstrings and glutes and getting them all working the way the should when running, and its potentially resulting in a poor posture when running.

Ive seen him run, and he has his hips quite low, seems to try to stretch out, but run low on his hips. It just doesn't work like that.

As i said i don't know the true story of his situation, but from observation, he looks like he needs a running coach to get those hips up so he can get more drive.

I feel for Trengove in particular, you wouldn't see Port playing Wines on the wing

I've seen him play a few games in there SPR but mostly in a stopping role.

Can't say i've seen him do any damage going the other way while doing so though. Has looked like a fish out of water when played through there so far from what i've seen.

I'd like to believe your right. I just don't have that much faith in playing him in this role given what i've seen so far.

These are good points Jumbo.

However, i think the questions that need to be asked are.....

1. Do we have anyone with AFL average or above average delivery skills when bringing the ball i50?

2. If the answer is yes, do the forwards (and those around them, including players pushing up from mid) have any idea how to play forward and play to the game style (mids spread away from designated leading zones or out wide of the hot spots instead running into those zones with defender in tow etc, forwards lead to those designated zones or lead back into space created by decoys, smalls run forward of drop zone to get front and square and take marks to kicks in under pressure or sweep up crumbs for snaps on goal etc) and to the strengths/weaknesses of those bringing it in?

I think Toump is worth a few more pre seasons. I'm not sure we should be backing players just based on their desire to be the best they can. Otherwise we probably will be holding on to the likes of McKenzie, Tappy, Blease, Fitzy, Trenners, Nicho etc for a fair while yet.

I don't think it's fair putting those two in the same category as the others you've mentioned but I see your point.

For mine, Trengove's biggest disadvantage has been his ability to repeatedly get to contests, be involved in play, and then provide spread both offensively and defensively. He can do it every now and then, but with no consistency. I'm hoping it's been his foot issue.

Toumpas just looks slow, soft, and lazy and worst of all like he can't hit a target to save himself. I have massive concerns and he's been a big disappointment.

The big advantage that both these guys have is that time is on their side and hopefully they're now being developed correctly.

vs Brisbane - very poor match and they looked very slow in ball movement and leg speed

vs Richmond - poor all night and very slow all around the ground

vs Adelaide certainly looked like one of the fastest teams going around

It's funny but when things aren't going your way you look really slow but when you play well move the ball quick run and carry you look a lot faster. Trengove of 2010/11 never looked slow even though he never looked like he had blistering pace
