Let's crack 50,000 on Saturday Night

I'm all for trying to get as many people to the game as possible. But 50,000 is a pipe dream. I'd say we'll be lucky to get 35-40k.

15k at least - MFC

10k at most - WBD

10k at most staying from FOW.

5k extra as leeway.

35,000 is my prediction. Saturday forecast atm isn't looking too good. So weather will also be a factor.

Figures, I remember the first one (with the umpires inexplicably in pink) was an absolute shocker of a night. I think this game can actually be built into something between us and the doggies if they give it a chance.

I don't think I'll be able to go unfortunately as I'm having some surgery on Friday. But who knows, I could come good!

I have a number of very tasteful pink ensembles to choose from - some difficult decisions coming up.

go with the miniskirt.

I completely agree.

There's no reason the field of women game btw us and Footscray can't be a regular occurrence, just like dreamtime at the g has been a resounding success for Essendon and Richmond.

The only difference is that the latter two are considered 'power' clubs and we are relative minnows.

But given the opportunity we could build this as a blockbuster and make it a regular 50k+ game.

As it stands, I think 35k or so this week is likely.

I will be there with all the family, but I don't know how much of the game I will be watching now as I will be trying to find bbo dressed in a pink mini skirt. Not so sure how I will explain that to the kids though!

I'm making the trip over from WA for this one. Getting the old man to come along as well as my Geelong supporting Mum and sister who are based in Vic.

Such a great cause that needs everyone's support where possible. Being a bye round, I hope many other clubs supporters will get on down and see a great contest.

I've secured a rocket to the Presidents dinner courtesy of a mate (and fellow demonlander) (Thanks if you're reading).

I will however make sure I scan the normal membership to bump the crowd figures up ;)

There were 32k at Ess/Bulldogs, I'll be happy if we beat that. Where are all the Bombers who were at ANZAC Day the week before?

i've noticed every clown that doesn't even know the rules of the game and attends one game per year pledges their allegiance to Collingwood or Essendon

if someone claims to barrack for Melbourne, North, Doggies or the Saints you know that have some sort of clue and some sort of passion

Spot on. Absolutely astounds me how many 'half followers' barrack for Essendon or Collingwood.

It's absurd.

They would be exposed to twice as much spending the first quarter next to BBO in the miniskirt.

They have been exposed to fair bit already, seeing as all are die hard members of our wonderful club.

Make sure she knows where the taxi rank is, in case you have to send her off during the game.

She can walk to the Mercy from the g. It's not far.

Good point. Taxis are expensive. You could probably buy four pots for the price of a taxi fare. No brainer really.

If she has a watershed moment during the match then it's probably a sign that they are not meant to be together.

One must read the omens.

Just send out an SOS via the paging system for me. I'm a midwife and will be there with an obstetrician and a handful of other midwives - that way neither of you will have to leave.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
