He has gone to another level again this year......massive respect for Jonesy.

Nothing that I can add other than I'd like his Brother here too.

Is he in this year's draft?

Last year's, went to the swans at about pick 15

One of the best "leaders by example" i've seen at the MFC. Nose down bum up sheer guts. If you ever needed someone to go into the trenches with... look no further.

To go through the last few seasons in the state we were in and perform at the level he did...legendary stuff.

He's really worked on his game over the past two or three seasons and it's paying off big time. Last year, he began to make better decisions and seemed to recognise his limitations. I'd say he'd have to be A grade this year. It's a real credit to him. He was working his arse off, even before Roos and Stone waved their magic wands. Now he's a super hero.

Jonesy was one of the few, if not the only one, who improved under Neeld. I think it just says something about Jones as a player and person. Hell, he'd improve with a nutless monkey at the helm!

Tropic Thunder fan!

Keeping with the theme - Jones has been putting tiger balm on this competitions' nuts for a while now - about time people noticed...

Skilled player, rarely injured, leader among men. Class player overall. I'd back him in to be the next Dee to top 300 games. Looks likely at reaching 200 next year and he'll only be 27 when that happens.

Also could someone please post a brief report of what the Jones boy has to say tonight on Talking Footy?

Loved it!

Almost shed a man tear.

Awesome. Just about to watch it and Mad Men.

And, er, go Jonesy.

Was watching his game & Viney's on the weekend & a thought crept into my head. Todd Viney was one of the great leaders of our club through the 90s but only captained for 2 years because of Gaz being such a magnificent leader. Is history repeating. Could Jonesy be skipper for the rest of this decade & Jack, who oozes leadership, will end up skipper in the twilight of his career. Whichever way it ends up no one can question the leadership of the club & I don't just mean the skippers.

Todd was named Vice Captain in his second year at the club, after just 13 games, which shows just how highly regarded he was after crossing over from SA.

For whatever reason, he was replaced by Danny Hughes in 1989.

I was a big fan of Viney Snr but I've seen enough after 20 games to be confident that Jack will be the better player. His disposal is far better than Todd's, who wasn't really a great user of the footy until the twilight of his career.

Just watched Nathan Jones on Talking Footy. I have to admit to being surprised at how well he spoke. My questions about whether he was a suitable captain in years gone by had nothing to do with football ability or on ground leadership. It was about his public speaking and being up front representing the club in the media, at functions etc... On Talking Footy tonight he was very, very good. No constant umming and aaahing, he answered the questions, he talked up the club, and most of all was honest about some of the tougher questions.

When asked if he thought Jack Watts' introduction to the club and first season was handled poorly by the club, he was up front and said "yes", he thought that Jack was handled badly by the club.

And in passing, that passage of play where he was monstered on the ground by 3 Richmond players, and he kept fighting and wrestling until he stood up and handballed to a team mate - inspirational.

I like that you pu it in that perspective. Fresh and honest. Ive only spoke with him the once and was similarly take aback ( sts ) i.e wasnt what I expected.

This lad is quite a deep thinker I suspect. the skeggyness etc is just him. but I think he has a clear vision of himself , the team, his place in it and our way forward.

I think he makes a brilliant choice as captain

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
